    “Wag the Dog” Goofs List

    • Audio/visual unsynchronized: While they are recording the song for the Albanian War, there is a shot of Stanley through the glass of the studio. The reflections of the singers do not match the words or rhythm of the song.
    • Continuity: When Winifred is playing with her pearls after they find out the “war” has been ended, they are in her right hand in one shot, then jump to the left in the next shot.
    • Continuity: On the blackboard stating the days until the election, the number 8 is written twice.
    • Miscellaneous: At the end of the film, when the Secret Service escorts Stanley to his car, one of the men repeatedly tries to open the car door, but it has been accidentally locked.
    • Crew or equipment visible: When the limo pulls out of the Hay-Adams Hotel and passes the Washington Monument, a camera is reflected in the car window.
    • Miscellaneous: While Conrad and Winifred are on the airport to fly to L.A., on the TV screen during the news report, Santa Fe is written Sante Fe.
    • Crew or equipment visible: A few pieces of technical equipment are seen several times reflected from Motss’ glasses. Also, in the songwriting scene, there is a camera stand in one corner of the studio (although this may be part of the decor of the producers’ house).
    • Miscellaneous: Air Force One is diverted to Boca Raton, which does not have a runway big enough to handle it.
    • Continuity: The small private jet which the main characters and Sgt. Schumann board has two engines. When the jet is about to crash, a shot of the cockpit shows throttle and engine controls for a four-engine plane.
    • Miscellaneous: When the coffin is unloaded from the aircraft, the flag is positioned properly, with the blue field over deceased’s left shoulder. At the memorial service, the blue is over the deceased’s right shoulder.
