“Species II” Goofs List
- Continuity: When Eve escapes from the laboratory she is wearing white panties. When she arrives, just a short car ride thereafter, at the barn where Patrick is hiding out, her underwear has disappeared.
- Continuity: When Patrick Ross reaches Eve’s pen, Eve is wearing a white shirt and little else. After Patrick escapes, Eve is suddenly wearing a dress.
- Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Once they complete their mission to Mars, the astronauts receive a video message from the U.S. President. Later on in the film, when Colonel Carter Burgess Jr. reveals to Senator Judson Ross that Patrick Ross is involved in series of murders, a picture of the actual U.S. President at the time (Bill Clinton) can be seen hanging from the wall in the office. Several months have passed between the Presidents Video message and Colonel Carter Burgess visit to Senator Judson Ross. (Round trip to mars was 18 months.) Enough time for a presidential election to have take place
- Continuity: When Patrick Ross wakes in the cabin with the dead girl, the girl is on one side of the bed. When he returns from re-growing his head, the girl’s body is in the very center of the bed.
- Continuity: When Patrick Ross is raping the girl in the supermarket parking lot, she drops her purse just outside the rear door of the black van, he does not pick it up. A moment later when Col. Burges and Press arrive at the same van, the purse is gone.
- Continuity: In the end when the third astronaut is being airlifted out, the flight medic puts her headset on twice.
- Crew or equipment visible: Four crew members including the camera operator are reflected on the nose of the gray kiddie helicopter as Patrick enters the supermarket.
- Incorrectly regarded as goofs: A close up of Eve reveals a pulse when she is seemingly dead in the ambulance. However, Eve is actually still alive at this point, as is revealed in the sequel, Species III.
- Factual errors: The crew holds radio conversations with Houston while in orbit around Mars. This is impossible: radio waves take several minutes to travel from Mars to Earth.
- Factual errors: The Marine Colonel is far too overweight to be anywhere near the US Marine Corps fitness standards.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Dr. Baker claims that the average temperature on Mars is -225F. This is more like Neptune. The actual average -22F with daytime summer temperatures reaching the near 50F.
