“The Pacifier” Goofs List
- Continuity: SPOILER: When Lulu is bound and gagged towards the end of her movie, she is well gagged with the material tied securely around and over her mouth, but it changes to being in her mouth in a few shots.
- Continuity: SPOILER: At the end of the movie when the Plummers are outside and the police come, all of the cops have glasses on. But then when Mr. Chun says, “Drop your weapons!” the middle cop isn’t wearing them anymore.
- Continuity: SPOILER: Near the end of the movie, when the Korean man is knocked over by the principal, his machine gun slides to Shane and he picks it up, yet in the next shot, it is still on the ground.
- Continuity: SPOILER: When fighting the Koreans in the kids’ room, Shane pulls the plastic crawl tube over the Korean’s head pinning his arms down and to his sides with the batons pointing down. In the next shot, the Korean’s arms are up with the batons pointing up.
- Revealing mistakes: SPOILER: When the kids are escaping from Mr. Chung they lock the door. He punches a hole in the door. The hole is perfectly round like it had been cut out.
- Continuity: SPOILER: At the end of the movie, after Claire joins Shane at the side of the stage during The Sound of Music (1965), it switches to a wide shot of the crowd applauding. Claire is seen in the crowd. It then cuts back to Claire and Shane at the side of the stage.
- Continuity: SPOILER: Mr. Chung gets bitten on the crotch by Gary, the duck. Claire hen jumps on him & knocks him down, but Gary has disappeared.
- Errors in geography: SPOILER: The Plummers live in Bethesda, Md. The local bus system there is Ride-On, not the Ride 410 that’s clearly visible on the bus that Seth takes to go to rehearsal for The Sound of Music (1965).
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): SPOILER: Near the end of the movie, Shane and Lulu salute each other. When they do, they put their hands in the middle of their foreheads. Even Shane, an officer in the Navy, does then, when the Navy salutes with their fingers just touching their eyebrows as they salute.
- Continuity: When Shane and Mrs. Plummer are in the kitchen after he gets to the Plummers’ house, she is cleaning up and moves the cereal box twice from the same spot.
- Continuity: In the opening sequence, Lt. Shane Wolf is briefing his SEAL team about their mission. At the time, he is wearing an earpiece in his left ear. After his line “We are SEALs, and this is our job!” he puts the earpiece in again.
- Continuity: When Shane and the Fireflies enter the kids play area, you can see a mother try to pull her kid out of a ride. In the next shot, we see the same mother and child walking behind them, but when we cut back to the play area, the mother is still trying to get the kid back out of the ride.
- Continuity: When Seth heads upstairs to the bathroom when Shane is handing out the tracking bracelets, he is barefoot, and when he exits the bathroom, he is wearing socks.
- Continuity: When Shane Wolfe is setting up wires on a pole at the Plummer house, it is raining, but there is no sign of rain before or after that shot.
- Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Shane is asking for help while changing the baby, he says, “Guys…” when his lips appear to say, “Come on,” or something like that.
- Continuity: When Shane and Murney are fighting in the gym, Shane first has got Murney’s left arm blocked. In the following shoot, Shane has Murney’s right arm blocked.
- Continuity: When Shane retrieves Peter from the ball pit “freestyle”, Peter’s right leg is in a cast. At no other point in the movie is Peter’s leg in a cast.
- Boom mic visible: When Shane investigates Lulu’s scream on his first night, and he walks in to find her playing a video game, a boom mic is reflected in the windows behind them.
- Errors in geography: The movie is set in the USA, but there are signs for the TTC (the Toronto public transportation system).
- Continuity: In repeated exterior shots of the house we see a boarded up second story window days before the ninja fight in which the window is actually broken.
- Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Shane is using the Peter Panda Dance to get past the security to the program Ghost, he steps back one step to avoid a blade that comes down in front of him. You hear him say, “One step back,” but his lips don’t move.
- Continuity: In the chaos scene, Peter is standing in the fish tank wearing a red cape. In one shot the cape is half out and half in the water, then in the next shot it is all in the water, and in the rest of the shots it is back to half and half.
- Continuity: The mustard stain disappears from Shane’s shirt between shots at the teen party at the Plummer residence.
- Factual errors: When the family and Shane Wolfe are in the arcade you can see an Mortal Kombat 2 machine, later when Shane is getting the kid out of the balls you can see the screen on the MK2 machine and it shows the text and logo for Mortal Kombat Trilogy, which was only released on home consoles and was never in the arcades.
- Continuity: At the beginning of the movie when Shane saves the Professor and they are walking towards the chopper, Shane has an ear-piece on, but in the next shot it disappears.
- Continuity: As the director gives his lecture about their imminent opening, the shot cuts to the woman Seth dropped, and you can see the mountain prop is already broken, yet in the next shot, it is intact.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Lt. Wolfe discovers that Seth has gone out the window he tells Zoe to watch everyone and to alert him if anyone comes within 40 klicks of the perimeter. ‘Klicks’ is military jargon for kilometer so in reality he’s telling her to warn him if anyone comes withing 40 kilometers of the house.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When the Junior Grizzlies harass the cookie-selling Firefly troop, the leader says “This is troop sixteen territory” but the troop numbers on his sleeve clearly are a 3-digit number ending in 15.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Zoe drives around looking for a cop, the family’s mini-van does not have a license plate on the front of the car. The law in Maryland states that cars have both a front and back license plate.
- Errors in geography: Montgomery County, Maryland police officers wear black uniforms, not light blue as seen in the movie.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Classified information can never be viewed outside of a cleared area – especially not in public, as when Shane looks up information on the housekeeper while in the home, or when he looks up information about the principal while out on the playground. This would be considered a serious security breach.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): The mission named “GHOST” should really be “GHAST” because it stands for “Government High Altitude…”
