“Last Action Hero” Goofs List
- Crew or equipment visible: When Benedict’s dogs stand on each other, the scaffolding they are actually standing on is visible. Especially above the bottom dogs.
- Crew or equipment visible: While in the real world (New York) Jack Slater plays a game of chicken with a taxi. When his car starts going down the alley you can clearly see a cable running across the floor attached to Jack Slater’s car.
- Revealing mistakes: Danny and Slater enter a movie store called “Acme Video”, But the door says Blockbuster video and a few moments later, a Blockbuster Video sign is clearly visible on the wall.
- Continuity: When Jack is leaving the police station with his personal effects in a box his shirt is riddled with bullet holes. When he arrives at his apartment and enters, the shirt has no holes.
- Continuity: When Slater is in the elevator and the helicopter hovers outside, the twin machine guns and mini-gun switch sides on the chopper repeatedly.
- Continuity: Chain visible on Jack’s car when it jumps over the trailer escaping the bad guys
- Continuity: When we first see Benedict and he fires blindly at the target next to Frank, as the camera zooms in towards him you can see that his revolver has a threaded line holding it up steady for the perfect bullseye shot.
- Revealing mistakes: When Slater’s convertible is maneuvered onto two wheels a roll cage with painted red foam appears in the car for that stunt shot.
- Continuity: After Benedict shoots Jack, he loads two bullets in the gun to shoot him again. Then, when Slater shoots his eye, one shot. But when Danny points at Death, the gun is full.
- Crew or equipment visible: When in Benedicts house, as The Red-eye is lingering, a dark glass window reveals the camera man.
- Crew or equipment visible: When Jack is escaping the red pickup and he drives his car on two wheels to go around the tanker truck, you can see Jack and Danny have been replaced with stunt doubles.
- Continuity: When Slater shows the kid the basket of funny money, it’s on top of the desk. When the henchman gets it out, it’s in the desk drawer.
- Revealing mistakes: When Slater throws the body over the edge at the funeral, he clearly throws it onto the flower bed right behind him.
- Continuity: The movie is full of deliberate continuity “errors”, intended to humorously reinforce the feeling of being “in a movie”.
- Crew or equipment visible: When the house explodes (Jack’s favorite second cousin) you can clearly see the hydraulic jack popping up to flip one of the police cars into the air.
- Crew or equipment visible: Hands holding colored spotlights can be seen in the theatre’s projector room when the magic ticket is used the last time.
