“The Fourth Kind” Goofs List
- Factual errors: In the film, there is a sheriff and deputies that provide police service to Tyler’s home. This is wrong, as Nome has a police department, and there are no sheriffs in the state of Alaska.
- Continuity: The lead-in to the scene where the sheriff is interviewing Dr. Tyler lists the time as 3:45am, but later in that scene, the clock in the background clearly shows 2:15.
- Errors in geography: The film shows very forested areas in the movie and interviews. Nome is actually located on naturally tree-less land.
- Continuity: When Abby is packing the suitcase to leave town, every time she turns around to grab more clothes from the closet and put them into the suitcase; the suitcase is empty.
- Errors in geography: Although supposedly set in Nome, Alaska, which is a treeless area, some scenes show trees in the background.
- Errors in geography: Nome is in a relatively flat, tundra area. Yet the Nome in the films is in a valley surrounded by high mountains.
- Factual errors: Sheriff August has a beard. However, real law enforcement officers are not allowed to grow facial hair past their top lip.
