    “First Knight” Goofs List

    • Revealing mistakes: After Guinevere gets saved by Lancelot the first time she uses a small crossbow to shoot a guy trying to kiss her. She shoots the crossbow straight up into the guy’s stomach, yet when the guy falls dead to the ground, the crossbow bolt is coming horizontal out of the guy’s stomach instead of vertical as it should be.
    • Anachronisms: Right before Guinevere jumps from her carriage, you can see the guy who is actually driving the carriage behind the seat. You can see his face through the hole or slit behind the seat and you can see the reins disappear into a slit just below the seat.
    • Continuity: Guinevere’s hands on the table when Arthur’s man enters to summon her.
    • Continuity: Guinevere’s skirt after she jumps on Lancelot’s horse.
    • Continuity: Guinevere’s dress strap after it is ripped by Maligant.
    • Continuity: Maligant still has his sword after Lancelot knocks it into the air.
    • Continuity: When Lancelot steps back after killing Maligant, his sword appears momentarily to be missing its blade.
    • Revealing mistakes: Final fight obviously speeded up.
    • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When Prince Maligant lays his sword on the round table, he doesn’t pick it up when he leaves. This was intentional, signaling his resignation.
    • Anachronisms: When the knights charge into battle on horseback, there are tire tracks in the foreground
    • Continuity: During the night battle with Malagant’s forces, flaming arrows loosed against the camp are sent in an overhead arc (in order to travel the required distance). When Malagant’s forces are seen being shot by these arrows, the arrows are traveling at a near-horizontal trajectory instead of falling from above.
    • Anachronisms: When the horse is caught, there’s an 17th/18th century stone bridge in the background.
    • Anachronisms: After running the gauntlet, when Arthur brings Lancelot inside to show him the Round Table, there is what appears to be a Phillips-head screw visible on the inside of the door they walk through.
    • Revealing mistakes: When Lancelot and Guinevere are under the tree after escaping from Malagant and she is soaked to the skin you can see her microphone wire on her right leg.
    • Continuity: In the scene when Lancelot saves Guinevere from the Marauder with the crossbow, during the conversation between Lancelot and the Marauder the metal loop at the end of the crossbow changes from loose facing the ground, to rigid sticking straight out.
    • Anachronisms: The small crossbows used, also known as “pistol” crossbows, are a modern invention and were certainly not known in the early 6th century.
    • Continuity: SPOILER: Arthur’s pyre smokes before it is lit by the flaming arrow.
    • Revealing mistakes: SPOILER: Arthur’s pyre floats straight out from the camera. When it begins to burn the flames and smoke are blown sharply to the left. Even if a current were moving the pyre away from the camera the wind should be blowing it to the camera left.
    • Anachronisms: Evidence of lawnmowers visible when Arthur’s knights charge Maligant’s forces after they attack the fake camp.
    • Anachronisms: As Lancelot chases the horse a telephone pole is visible, with barbed wire around it.
    • Continuity: Guinevere’s plait after she mounts the white mare for the first time.
