    “Dreamcatcher” Goofs List

    • Continuity: SPOILER: When Beaver’s face is eaten by the shit weasel, only one foot is on the toilet, but when Henry goes in the cabin after Jonesy passes him on the road, both his feet are on the toilet.
    • Continuity: SPOILER: The bathroom has a tile floor when Beaver and Jonesy are there. Later, when Henry returns and finds Beaver dead, the floor has changed to wood.
    • Factual errors: The call of a loon can be heard in outdoor scenes. The film is set in winter which is when loons would have already migrated south for the winter.
    • Revealing mistakes: When the lighter fluid on the floor is ignited, the heads on the matches laying in it fail to ignite, showing that they weren’t real matches.
    • Continuity: When the SUV flips, the headlights alternate between on and off between shots.
    • Continuity: When Beaver and Jonesy are following the trail of blood, Beaver’s shirt is wet/dry between shots.
    • Crew or equipment visible: When Beaver fights the weasel in the bathroom, a cable for operating the puppet is visible, attached to his shirt. It can be seen in a close up of his chest as the weasel lunges at him.
    • Continuity: When Lt. Underhill is in the car, he loads a cartridge into the pistol he is holding by pulling back the slide and releasing it. The pistol is a Model 1911, which not only loads a cartridge when you pull back the slide, it also cocks the hammer. Lt. Underhill immediately sets the pistol down in the center console, but the hammer is now down, no longer cocked.
    • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Col. Curtis in firing the mini-gun at Lt. Underhill from the helicopter, the sound it emits is of a conventional machine gun and not the unique whir of a mini-gun.
    • Continuity: Peter finds Trish’s car keys totally submerged for several minutes in a puddle of water yet the car remote still worked.
    • Continuity: When Beaver drops the toothpicks in the bathroom, he still has one in his hand. In the next shot, the toothpick is gone.
    • Errors in geography: In the scene where the tracking device in the pistol is monitored, the marker shows Interstate 95 running to the west of Dixfield, Maine. I 95 does not run this close to Dixfield; the closest it runs is Auburn, ME (Exit 75; about 35 miles southeast) and Augusta, ME (Exits 104, 112, and 113; almost 50 miles from Dixfield to the East).
    • Continuity: The length of Jonesy’s facial hair changes throughout the movie.
    • Continuity: When Henry shoots his diploma, the bullet goes through the glass and the diploma immediately below the word “University”, but when they show the close-up of the diploma, the bullet hole is a good inch or more below Henry’s name.
    • Crew or equipment visible: A crew member standing on a ladder reflected in the driver’s side window of Henry’s truck as he leaves the general store just before the snowstorm.
