Continuity: When Patrick and Emma are on the top of the building, the wall is apparently as high as their shoulders. But in the scenes where they are talking to each other, the wall is invisible or much to low.
Continuity: When Emma gets her ring, the documents previously placed on the table are disappeared. When Richard leaves the table, the documents are also nowhere to be seen.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Emma is coming out of commercial during her radio show, the producer counts her down for her next segment with the words “five, four, three, two, one”. No one in radio or television would ever vocalize the word, “one” in a countdown. This number is always replaced with a vertical finger signal to represent “one” and a direct finger point to show “zero” or “begin”. Since the microphone always goes live on “two” the audience would otherwise constantly be hearing a disembodied voice say “one” when they come out of commercial.
Continuity: During the Indian party Emma gets an Indian Henna tattoo on her hands, which is still there when she goes home. However, the next morning it has disappeared. It is true that Henna is not permanent, but it will last a few days at least.
Continuity: When Richard and Emma are sitting on the bed near the start of the movie and he has just brought in some takeaway coffee, the coffee cups disappear and reappear during the scene, or change from being side-by-side to one being inside the other.
Revealing mistakes: When Patrick and the Kid hacker decide to “marry” Bratton to Dr. Emma via manipulation of records, we can see on his computer that the title on the screen showing these records is spelled incorrectly. The title reads “VITAL STATISTICS / Marriage Registery”, when it should be “Registry”.

Plot holes: SPOILER: Kate writes to Alex in one letter that because a man died on Valentine’s Day, his death is what brought her back to the lake house, and therefore, when she found Alex’s first letter. However, when Kate realizes in 2008 that Alex was that same man who died on Valentine’s Day, she warns him not to find her in order to save his life, and for him to find her at the lake house in another 2 years. Alex doesn’t die, and he does meet Kate. However, even though Alex never died, this wouldn’t have changed the fact that they began corresponding with one another because the initial reason why Kate wrote to Alex is because she wanted him to forward her the mail she was still receiving at the lake house.
Anachronisms: During a scene set in 2004, the Paul McCartney song “This Never Happened to Me Before” is featured prominently. This song is on the album “Chaos and Creation in the Backyard,” which was released on September 13, 2005.
Revealing mistakes: The tree which Alex plants grows something like 20 feet taller in two years.
Revealing mistakes: When Kate is sitting at the table waiting for Alex, the candles are full candles. Even though she is supposedly waiting all night for him, in subsequent shots, the candles have not burned down.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: Mona’s words at the job site, as she’s talking to Alex in the beginning, don’t match her mouth.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Alex realizes it’s Valentine’s Day, he asks his brother “Valentine’s Day, 2006?” but his mouth clearly says 2004.
Revealing mistakes: In one scene there is snow on the ground where the house is located, but if you look across the lake there is no snow on the opposite bank.
Revealing mistakes: When Alex brings his father coffee in the hospital, there is clearly no coffee in the paper cup.
Continuity: When Kate arrives at the bar she asks for a glass of wine. Immediately after her fellow resident doctor arrives and though we have not seen Kate drinking that much, in the next shot the glass is nearly empty.
Factual errors: Kate and Alex are supposed to be living exactly two years apart throughout the film which is not possible because 2004 was a leap year, 2006 wasn’t. Once it got to February 28th for both, the next day would be February 29th for Alex but March 1st for Kate.
Plot holes: In 2006 Kate writes Alex about the dog and tells Alex that she has named the dog Jack. In 2004 when Alex reads this letter, he calls out “Jack!” and the dog responds by jumping up and barking, indicating that she knows her name. However, Kate hasn’t met the dog yet, so the dog shouldn’t have known the name Jack.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Kate is writing to Alex asking him to call her July 10, 2006 at 9:05 p.m., she mouths “July 10, 2004″, but we hear 2006.
Continuity: When Alex first meets Morgan at his house in 2004, there are dead leaves all over the yard of Morgan’s house like it’s the fall, but all the trees around are bright green and it’s obviously spring- some of the trees are just starting to sprout leaves.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: While looking through the pictures she says “…in the year 2004″ but her mouth says 2002.
Anachronisms: The taxicabs in the film have the same color license plates in 2004 and 2006, even though Illinois taxi license plates are reissued annually with different colors. The blue plates shown in the film are the 2005 series.
Continuity: When we first see the lake house tree, the shape of the leaf is different from the leaf that is present in two years later. The first doesn’t appear to be the same type of Maple.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Alex catches up with his dog, Jack, at Morgan and Kate’s house, Alex tells Morgan that Jack is a she, not a he. A few moments later, Alex’s girlfriend, Mona, catches up with Alex and his dog. She says about the dog, “Oh, I see you found him.”
Errors in geography: The address that Kate (Sandra Bullock) lives at in 2006 – 1620 North Racine Street – is a non-existent address. While there is a North Racine Street in Chicago, it does not run in the 1600N block of the city.
Continuity: When Mona is showing Alex her boots in the truck, the first shot is from the truck bed into the truck. There is a visible rear view mirror. Subsequent shots are from the front of the truck and the inside of the truck, and there is no rear view mirror.
Plot holes: Before Kate sends the red scarf to Alex, she discusses the snow storm coming and says to the dog ‘remember that day you were not happy’ but the dog was supposedly with Alex in his time already and couldn’t possibly have been with Kate during that snow storm.
Anachronisms: In the scene in the diner where Kate first shows the letters to her mother, there is a poster on the wall behind her advertising tickets to an event. The date on the poster clearly reads “December 15-26, 2004″, but Kate is living in 2006. The conversation is also supposed to be taking place in the summer – a bit early to be selling tickets of only $15 for an event in December!
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Jack is finally caught, Alex clearly and loudly says “girl” when talking to the dog, but Morgan still refers to the dog as a male.
Factual errors: Kate takes the Amtrak train out of the Riverside station to Madison, however the only trains that stop at the Riverside station are Metra trains to and from Chicago only, no Amtrak trains stop there.
Continuity: When Alex shows his brother the lake house in 2004, he mentions that the house has no way to reach the water and that there should be a staircase so that you could go swimming. He adds the stairs himself later on. However, when Alex receives the book of his father’s memoirs, he looks at a photo of his father and himself, a child, at the lake house. There are clearly stairs leading down to the water underneath the house, but the stairs did not exist until Alex added them in 2004.
Continuity: When Alex is at the hospital talking to the doctor about his dad, his sweatshirt is zipped when the scene was shot from the side, and unzipped in the scene that is shot from the front, and then zipped again from the side again.
Revealing mistakes: When Alex meets Morgan he’s holding two cases of beer, one is clearly Samuel Adams and another case which is a black box with small white writing on it. After Alex ask if he needs helps, neither is carrying the Samuel Adams box, and Alex is carrying a Dogwood box which is black but has different pictures and writing than the other case Morgan was carrying.
Continuity: In the scene where Kate is at the kitchen table, talking to her mother about her mother’s first love, there is a cutaway to Kate’s face, right hand under her chin. When it cuts back, she is holding a knife and fork with two hands.
Plot holes: Kate and Morgan are in the apartment. Kate is annoyed and stomps over to the bedroom area and breaks loose a piece of the hardwood. Hidden there, in a white paper bag, is the book that Alex retrieved for her when Kate had left it at the train station in 2004. Yet we never see the scene on how Alex could have possibly been able to put the book away under the hardwood floor.
Continuity: When Alex Wyler (Keanu Reeves) finds out that his dad is in the hospital he gets to the front desk to ask about his Dad’s room. In that scene his sweat shirt was zipped up but when the attendant Anna Klyczynski (Shohreh Aghdashloo) realises he is the son of Simon Wyler (‘Christopher Plummer’) and comes round to talk to him his zipper is down.

Continuity: When a drunken Roger falls on the bed after Amanda takes him home and is professing his love for her, the clock behind him switches from 11:38 to 11:39, then to 11:30, then back to 11:38.
Factual errors: At the end of the movie, after Dr. P drops the defibrillator paddles on Roger, he is seen shaking like he has been shocked even though only one paddle is on him and the other can be seen on the ground. The circuit would be open the second the other paddle is not touching his body.
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Incorrectly regarded as an error: The first time Roger and Dr. P are in the museum, there are two elephants in the background. The next time there appears to be only one in the final shot. This is caused by the shift in camera angle. In fact, the head of the elephant on the left is hidden by the stuffed lion. The body of the elephant is still seen, but looks like a large boulder.
Continuity: When Ian and Roger grab hot dogs and sit down, Ian’s hot dog goes from being intact, to being 3/4 of a hot dog, then back to being intact.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: Eli sings “No More Mr. Nice Guy” in the bar, when the camera pans back we can hear him singing the chorus, but the verse is clearly displayed on the karaoke monitor.
Factual errors: A defibrillator delivers one instantaneous jolt, not an extended current. Once the paddles discharge through a conductor (like the human body), they are no longer electrified until he machine is activated again and can build up a charge.
Factual errors: Roger goes to visit Lonnie in Peekskill, a suburb about an hour away from Manhattan. From Grand Central Terminal Roger would take the Hudson Line to get to Peekskill. As of 2008 the Hudson Line still uses the older trains with red and blue chairs. The train Roger is on has blue and green chairs, which are seen on other lines. Basically the train Roger is seen on would not have taken him to Peekskill.
Continuity: When Roger is being grilled by Becky about the bouquet of daisies and Billy Joel tickets, Becky’s hair goes from being over her left shoulder to behind her left shoulder on two different occasions.

Revealing mistakes: When Edna discovers Tracy at Motormouth Maybelle’s record store party, the prosthetic makeup around John Travolta’s mouth can be seen cracking and separating when his lips purse.
Continuity: During the “You Can’t Stop the Beat” number, keep an eye on the large board with the bar charts illustrating how many viewers voted for each Miss Hairspray. The bar charts are not consistent between close up and long shots. Close up shots show Amber almost winning, Tracy close on her heels. Long shots during dance numbers show Tracy trailing by quite a bit.
Continuity: During You Can’t Stop the Beat, Amber, standing behind Corny Collins, repeatedly moves from his left to his right between shots.
Anachronisms: In “Good Morning Baltimore”, a 1963 Chevrolet Bel Air passes by.
Factual errors: During the opening “Good Morning Baltimore” song segment, a school bus labeled “Patterson School District” passes behind Tracy on the streets of Baltimore. Although she attends Patterson Park High School, it’s still the Baltimore School District.
Errors in geography: In the opening number “Good Morning Baltimore”, when Tracy is singing down the street, TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) streetcars are clearly visible at least twice.
Anachronisms: Tracy’s headboard bookshelf clearly shows three Disney’s Annette books. One of the books, “The Mystery at Smugglers Cove”, was not published until 1963. The books are visible during the “Good Morning Baltimore” and “Without Love” numbers.
Anachronisms: At several points in the film self-inflating whoopee cushions are depicted, but cushions of the self-inflating variety were not available until the 1990s.
Continuity: At the start of “Good Morning Baltimore,” Tracy’s alarm clock changes position three times.
Anachronisms: During the initial song “Good morning, Baltimore”, Tracy is walking on the street. She stops while singing and on the bottom right is the back of a Cadillac. The tail fin and 2 square lights below it are visible. The model is a 1963 caddy. The movie is taking place in the spring of 1962 and that model year would not have been out.
Continuity: At the beginning of “Run and Tell That”, Penny’s pigtails have little to no curl. On the bus, they become more curled, and during “Big, Blonde, and Beautiful”, they are perfectly curled.
Continuity: During “Run and Tell That”, Seaweed introduces Little Inez, with his arm around her neck which causes her collar to crinkle, but then the camera switches to Tracy and then back to Seaweed and Inez, but the collar is no longer crinkled.
Continuity: After “I Know Where I’ve Been”, when the crowd is chanting “2, 4, 6, 8, T.V.’s got to integrate,” Edna is clutching her white purse under her right forearm, but then the camera pans out and the purse move back to her side.
Anachronisms: In a classroom scene, the elevation of Mount Everest is listed on the green board as 29,035 feet. Although this information is correct, the correct elevation of Everest could not be determined before GPS (Global Positioning System) technology. At the time the events in the movie were to have occurred (1962), the accepted elevation of Mount Everest was 29,028 feet.
Continuity: All during the movie, the blond portions of Tracy’s hair change. The blond streaks below her headband don’t appear until her first appearance on the Corny Collins show. Especially during “Welcome to the Sixties”, the blond streaks above Tracy’s headband constantly change, even during the same scene as the camera shots are from different directions or they change locations, such as from room to room in the home and from inside to outside.
Anachronisms: There are a number of musical anachronisms: songs, LPs that were not yet available in 1962. The Top 10 chart on the CC Show has “Leader of the Pack” and other songs yet to be released. Motormouth’s record store racks show, among others, Jr. Walker & the All-Stars’ “Road-Runner” LP, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles’ “A Pocketfull of Miracles” LP, and a Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell LP, all not released for another few years.
Continuity: During the “Welcome to the 60’s” number when everyone is dancing in the street, Tracy and Edna are dancing and swinging their bags. In a closeup of Edna and Tracy, a pink flower falls out of Tracy’s hair and lands on the street next to her. In the following wide shot of everyone dancing, the flower isn’t visible, nor is it visible in the next closeup of Tracy and Edna.
Continuity: During “Run and Tell That”, when the students get onto the bus, its number is 17. When the students are inside the bus, its number is 26.
Revealing mistakes: Though specifically set in May and June of 1962, many of the trees seen in exterior shots have browning leaves, as the film was shot in the fall.
Factual errors: During the history class scene right before “Run and Tell That” the teacher writes on the board about the First Continental Congress in Philadelphia. He writes September 1st, but the correct date is September 5th, when it first convened.
Continuity: When Link is telling Amber off for teasing Tracy, the chair in front of Link is touching his desk, but in the next shot it isn’t. It then continually changes between shots.
Continuity: In the scene with Mr. Pinky, after he gives Tracy donuts, Edna moves her purse from her right arm to her left arm twice.
Continuity: When Penny hides behind the sofa when her mom enters the room she bounces a pillow off, in the next shot the pillow is back on the sofa.
Continuity: During “You Can’t Stop the Beat”, while Edna is dancing and singing, they pan over to Link, who is also singing. The words he sings do not match the words that Edna sings.
Continuity: When Tracy and Edna are entering Pinky’s Hefty Hideaway, a pink Cadillac disappears and reappears twice between shots.
Continuity: During the end of ‘Run and Tell That’, the order in which Tracy, Penny and Link get off the bus changes. Internal shots show Tracy coming off first, then Penny and then Link. When seen from the outside, however, Penny is the first of the three off, followed by Tracy and then Link.
Continuity: During Tracy’s first show on “The Corny Collins Show”, Amber is wearing a white layered dress. But a shot during the same scene, where everyone is facing the back of the set, shows Amber wearing the pink and white striped dress that she wears in the beginning of the movie. After that shot, she is back in the white layered dress.
Anachronisms: During the first musical number ‘Good Morning Baltimore’, Tracy runs across the street from an Esso to look at her reflection in a store window. In this window passed Tracy’s reflection a modern plastic water cooler can be seen in the store. The water cooler has a red and blue button with a blue light in the indent for the water spout.
Continuity: When Tracy gets off the garbage truck there’s a car behind it. But as she crosses the street and the shot changes, the car disappears.
Continuity: In the first “Nicest Kids In Town” number Amber Von Tussle is wearing a stripped pink dress and has her hair done like a bee hive. In the second “Nicest Kids In Town” number you can see a small clip from behind of her wearing the same thing. The first clip was used a second time.
Continuity: In “Miss Baltimore Crabs” There is a man with a clipboard standing in the background and he disappears from shot to shot. In the same number Penny moves closer and farther away from the group of girls auditioning.
Continuity: At the end of “It’s Hairspray”, Amber changes her positions 3 times. First, she’s on Corny’s left. The next shot, she’s on his right. The following shot she’s back to his left.
Factual errors: This takes place in the spring (May / June), but John Glenn orbited the earth in Friendship 7 on 20 February 1962.
Revealing mistakes: During “You’re Timeless To Me,” It shows the house lights on. In the very end of the song, when Wilbur blows out the candle, it is pitch black, but the house lights should still be on.
Revealing mistakes: In “Timeless To Me,” who lit the candle? Edna and Tracy were at Mr. Pinky’s shop. When they came back and Tracy went to bed, Edna changed then sang “Big Blond and Beautiful.” Edna was then crying on the bed.
Continuity: At the beginning of “Without Love”, Penny is tied to the bed with the jumprope, with knots both at her back and at the headboard of the bed. Seaweed cuts the knots behind her back, and the knots at the headboard magically release.

Factual errors: When the beehive attacks, the voices are male. A hive is protected by workers bees, who are all female.
Factual errors: When Dr Dolittle is visiting Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin’s TV set in Australia, the animal is presented as an alligator (which it is) but there are only crocodiles in Australia. To add insult to injury, the alligator has an Australian accent.

Revealing mistakes: SPOILER: In the final scene in the old hospital when Alice stands over the pool and shoots Dr. Jonas who is underwater, anyone who has ever shot a pool of water knows that it makes a gigantic splash. The pool is virtually still and water is not seen flying up at Alice.
Continuity: Jerry takes off his hat on the bus when talking to Ms. Sutton. The hat briefly reappears when he says “military industrial complex.”
Revealing mistakes: Sparks still flying from the vendor cart after it stops against the police car.
Revealing mistakes: When the shock troops rappel down from the black helicopter they can be seen to land on soft mats rather than hard New York City pavement.
Factual errors: The scenes from Ladyhawke (1985) are shown out of sequence.
Continuity: Jerry takes out a metal tin from the fridge labeled “TAPIOCA”, but when he is seen later eating it, it is labeled “TAPIOCA PUDDING”.
Continuity: Jerry and Alice leave the Queensboro Bridge towards Connecticut in broad daylight; a few minutes later when they cross under an interstate highway intersection in the Bronx it is pitch black dark. The two points are only about 20 min apart.
Continuity: When Jerry pulls up to the newspaper stand, he splashes the men sitting drumming on buckets but soon afterwards (too soon), the men are dry.
Continuity: When Jerry unlocks the refrigerator, the lock is first shown in his right hand and he is turning the dial with his left hand. In the next shot, the lock is in his left hand and he is turning the dial with his right hand.
Continuity: The lock on the coffee canister in the fridge has three dials on it but When Jerry offers Alice a coffee, he “recalls” that the combination is “4-23-12″ which would be used on a combination lock like the one on the fridge.
Miscellaneous: When Jerry is taped to the wheelchair and Jonas first confronts him, we see Jonas blocking the light, yet there is no shadow on Jerry. Even when we can see the back of the wheelchair, we should be able to see some part of Jonas’ shadow over Jerry and/or the wheelchair.
Continuity: When Jerry pauses before getting into the car on the bridge, you can see that the steering wheel has a leather-wrap cover. When they drive away, the wheel is bare.
Revealing mistakes: When Jerry falls down the stairwell while strapped into the wheel chair, the stuntman’s hands are not tied down and can be seen freely grabbing for the handrail.
Continuity: On the bus with Alice, Jerry says that the official story on Ernest Herriman is that he drowned in a swimming pool. But back earlier, when Jerry’s clipping newspaper articles, if we freeze the frame and read the article about Harriman, the official story is that he was drowned in the ocean off Maryland. The dialog in the script didn’t match the text on the prop.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Alice is in Dr Jonas’ office and the camera is on her (and from behind Jonas), after he says “then you can judge who and what I am” you can clearly see that Jonas is still talking after the end of the sentence.
Continuity: When Jerry stops the car in the middle of the bridge, the view from the front angle camera shows the last car in front of them to get through was a blue Honda Civic. When the scene switches to a rear camera, it’s now a red mid-size car.
Revealing mistakes: When Jerry is driving up to his apartment in the beginning of the movie and pushes the car backwards to park on the corner, the car moves back way too easily. If the car being pushed back has an automatic transmission, the rear wheels (or the front in a front wheel drive car) would be locked, hence causing the car to skid. If the car had a manual transmission, the last driver of the car should have placed the transmission in first gear or applied the parking brake. Either way, the car would have skidded backwards. The chances of the car being left in neutral in either situation is unlikely at best, and if so, the odds of that particular car being in neutral are very high, considering the amount of cars in Manhattan.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Jerry is leaving the hospital the first time he goes in the back of a panel truck and pulls the roll-up door closed, something the driver should have done prior to getting in the driver’s seat and pulling away from the loading dock.
Factual errors: When Jerry leaves Alice on the train and Alice gets a phone call on her mobile phone, she is still in the subway. Mobile phone technology of the day dictates that calls can not be completed when underground in the subway. She would not have a signal to receive or make a call.
Continuity: When Alice is in Dr Jonas’ office, there is a point where the bite mark on Dr. Jonas’ nose switches from the right side to the left.
Errors in geography: Jerry and Alice get off the 72nd St. bus and enter what Jerry calls the 7th St. subway station, where Harriman drowned. However, he boards an N train in the Times Square station, with an exit to 41st St. sign visible in the background.
Continuity: The piece of pizza that Jerry picks out of the box is much smaller than the piece he then eats.
Crew or equipment visible: When Jerry escapes from the hospital, he waits inside Alice’s car. He tells her to leave right away and when she does there is a reflection of a few crew members, especially the boom operator.

Continuity: In the opening scene Icee and coffee cups appear and disappear in the drink caddy.
Revealing mistakes: In the opening scene in the van, as they are driving , the shifter is in park the entire time.
Continuity: When they are sitting on the car hood eating their roast beef sandwiches and the camera moves back and forth between Him and Scarlet, you can see that Him’s arm in on his lap one moment (when looking from behind Him) and then he is leaning on the car the next (when looking from behind Scarlet). This goes on during most of the scene.
Factual errors: When Scarlet is at her husband’s trailer she refers to the Green Camero RS as a Pontiac. It is in fact a Chevrolet.
Continuity: As “Him” is walking through the store, after the mop demonstration, he does not have a mop. But when they are outside walking to the car, he has one.
Plot holes: Impossible time line. After working eight-hour-shift at grocery store that ends in mid-afternoon (store opens at 7 a.m., meaning she gets off at 3 or 4 p.m.), Scarlet claims she must rush to job interview at construction site that supposedly would close at 5 or 6 p.m. But before going to interview she somehow still finds time to have fight with ex-husband and smash his girlfriend’s car in a trailer park, go on shopping spree at Target, have car washed, go to fast food restaurant and have long philosophical discussion with another character – and still make an appointment a mere two hours later.

Anachronisms: Alejandro Montero that says he came via Lisbon and San Francisco. In 1841, San Francisco was still Yerba Buena. The name change didn’t occur until January, 1847.
Factual errors: The Mexican flag appearing in the headquarters when Zorro is fighting the soldiers has the red and green areas reversed.
Continuity: When Don Diego is fighting Alejandro in the Cantina, there are some hay stacks in the corner. When Alejandro attacks Zorro, one of the hay stacks falls down but in the next scene it’s up again in the corner.
Crew or equipment visible: When Zorro first appears, saving the men from execution, he leaps down from a rooftop unto a balcony. Shot from overhead, it’s quite obvious he lands on a stunt pad (the stone yields just like a cushion).
Revealing mistakes: When he dismounts to stop the burning wick, it is obvious Captain Love’s saddle cover is made of fake leopard skin material.
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: In the confessional, Elena says she broke the fourth commandment. For Roman Catholics, “honor thy father and mother” is the fourth commandment, not the fifth.
Revealing mistakes: When Zorro is surfing down the gulch on a shovel during his fight with Captain Love, a strap holding his foot to the shovel can be seen.
Continuity: During a training exercise, Alejandro knocks Diego’s sword from his hand and catches it. As he throws it back, the blade points down; when Diego catches it, the blade is pointed up.
Revealing mistakes: As Zorro is swinging on a tree branch just before kicking Captain Love, the parallel bars used for the tree limbs are clearly visible.
Continuity: When Alejandro is fighting Captain Love at the gold mine, he stops the large wheel from spinning by sticking something in it. The next time we see it, the ladder is in there holding the wheel, but it is not broken anymore. When he jumps off the platform the wheel starts moving and then stops again.
Crew or equipment visible: When one of the Dons comes into the room where de la Vega is hiding at the party, stage lighting is briefly visible when the door is opened.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Don Diego is about to confront Don Rafael for the first time, he begins talking in the shadows but his voice isn’t in sync with the picture.
Continuity: When Zorro is cheered by crowds near the beginning of the film, the shots of him were taken at sunset, but the shots of the crowd were taken closer to midday.
Revealing mistakes: When Alejandro calms the horse gone wild in the crowd, the rope tied to the horse can be seen dropped by someone off screen the moment Alejandro grabs for it.
Revealing mistakes: When Zorro undresses Elena with his sword, the clothes are clearly ripped off by a string attached to them, rather than falling off by themselves. (See also the item in the trivia section.)
Continuity: Alejandro, dressed as Zorro, fights the guards and grabs the “chandelier”. The candles were lit, then when he swings on them, they are blown out. In the next shot, they are lit again.
Continuity: After Zorro undresses Elena with his sword, she covers her breasts with his hat. When he snatches his hat away from her, the hand in the close up is not wearing a glove, even though Zorro was wearing gloves throughout the entire sequence.
Continuity: When Don Raphael arrives in the lifeboat, the camera in the boat shows six rowers, all wearing navy blue army uniforms and hats. In the next shot, there are only four rowers, and the two on the left side are wearing white bandannas on their heads.
Continuity: When Zorro is knocking off guards from their horses in order to get to his horse in the front, during a moment when he’s standing upon two horses you can hear him yell and the sound of grunts. Then when you see Zorro attack two guys by slamming them together, the same sound plays.
Revealing mistakes: When we first meet Alejandro’s soon-to-be horse, you can see changes. The horse’s mane changes consistency from straight to wavy as the horse is rearing in two different shots.
Continuity: When Don Raphael and Captain Love are seen in the hacienda’s study discussing the plans to destroy “all the evidence” (the mine and its workers), we see plainly Captain Love’s sword belt, with no bowie knife scabbard attached. When, shortly thereafter, Zorro fights Love and Raphael because of the missing map to the mine, Love’s bowie knife scabbard has reappeared.
Continuity: When Zorro is fighting Captain Love in the mine, and Zorro pushes him down and Captain Love rolls down the way until he stops at some boards, when Zorro pushes him you can see he loses his sword, and the sword falls all the way with him. In the next shot, when he’s already at the bottom, you can see he’s holding the sword, like he never lost it while he was falling.
Revealing mistakes: When Alejandro (Zorro) kills Capt. Love, only a little part of the sword crosses the Captain. In the next scene, from above, the sword crosses him to the half, and the point of the sword clearly doesn’t match with the rest.
Continuity: In the barn, there is clearly a different horse used in the bucking section. Zorro’s soon to be horse is large with a thick, wavy mane and tail. The horse that is actually bucking is smaller, with a thin straight tail.
Continuity: After the big chase scene, as Zorro and his horse canter up the hill, the horse’s steps don’t match the hoof beats heard.
Revealing mistakes: When we see Alejandro in the guards place were the black Andalusian was taken, he picks up a barrel of gunpowder to stop it from exploding and as he goes out the door leaving a trail of it. When he comes out of the door you can quite clearly see the trail of gunpowder already laid down in front of him before he gets there.
Continuity: When Alejandro tells the soldiers to touch their toes, one of them is in front of the other. But when Alejandro kicks them out the window they are side by side.
Continuity: When Alejandro is fighting Captain Love, his hat falls off when he is swinging on the tree branches. When he lands to pick up his sword, the hat is back on again.
Factual errors: Tornado, the black horse of Zorro, isn’t an Andalusian but a Friesian. (It has the typical feathers on its hoofs and is of stockier build.)
Crew or equipment visible: When the two prison guards return with the bag to carry away the dead prisoner in, an iron door swings back before they pass through. The crew member who pulls it open it is briefly visible at the far right of the screen (widescreen only).
Revealing mistakes: When Zorro rides up the steps while cheered by crowds near the beginning of the film, his shadow is on the wall behind him even though the setting sun is *behind* the building.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: During Zorro’s big duel at the end, he carves an ‘M’ on Captain Love’s cheek. The letter ‘M’ is made of four lines, therefore four cuts would be required to carve one. If you listen carefully however, you can hear five cuts being made.
Factual errors: The black horse that Zoro rode is not an Andalusian, as stated by Anthony Hopkins’ character, but is a Friesen (Dutch horse).
Anachronisms: The movie was set around 1841, but a pressure gauge measures in metric units which were not adopted in Mexico until the 1860s.
Anachronisms: Elena has a nylon zipper on her dress in the last scene. Zippers were not used in the 1840’s and nylon was not used for this purpose until after WWII.
Revealing mistakes: When Don Rafael Montero shows a gold bar to the other Dons, he holds it only with two fingers and shows no signs that it’s heavy. A gold bar this size would be much too heavy for anyone to hold like that.

Continuity: The size of Carrie’s piece of cake at Charlotte’s baby shower changes back and forth between shots.
Continuity: As Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte leave Charlotte’s apartment for the library (where the wedding is held), we see them all enter the limousine. As the limousine arrives at the site of the wedding and pulls up to the curb, we can clearly see that the limousine is empty.
Revealing mistakes: The license plates on Big’s Mercedes-Benz are obviously fake. New York State plates have three letters and four numbers on them. The plates on Big’s car have three letters, and then a mix of letters and numbers for the last four characters.
Continuity: After the waiter in Mexico gives Charlotte her bottled water (and she is shown wiping off the mouth of it), his tray shown in the next shot still has the bottle of water on it as he places another margarita on the table.
Continuity: In the scene where Miranda and Steve are having dinner, the foam on Miranda and Steve’s lips change shape and position.
Continuity: In the scene where Carrie is making lists to plan the wedding the position of her Sharpie marker (clipped to her tank top) changes position several time during the shot
Revealing mistakes: When the four girls are packing Carries stuff into boxes, and Charlotte bumps into one of the stacks of boxes, it is obvious that they are empty.
Continuity: In the scene where Carrie is going through her closet and asking the girls whether to “toss or take” an outfit, the bathroom door keeps changing from open to closed when she is wearing the iconic tutu!
Continuity: When Carrie is with Louise at the bar, and she shows her the “Love” keychain, she holds it tight in her hand and places it near her chest. Right in the next shot, she is holding it next to her face.
Continuity: When Carrie is interviewing the Asian guy for her personal assistant, the coffee cup changes its position right after he shows her he is wearing pink high heel shoes.
Continuity: When Miranda and Carrie get in the argument on Valentine’s Day they go three days without talking. Miranda shows up in a taxi a few days later and the trees, shrubs, and grass are all green and it’s raining. Spring doesn’t come that quickly to Manhattan.
Continuity: During the scene in which Carrie is reading to “Big” from the book of Love Letters, her pearl necklace keeps changing position between shots.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): In the beginning of the movie when Carrie is is giving background information on Charlotte, she quotes her saying to Harry “We’re not barren, we’re reproductively challenged,” when Charlotte actually said that to Trey in the series.
Continuity: When Carrie is leaving Charlotte’s building for the wedding, she is wearing white pumps. When she runs from the limo to hit Big over the head with her bouquet, she is wearing gold gladiator sandals.
Continuity: In the scene when Carrie and Charlotte are making lists for the wedding, the Sharpie marker clipped to Carrie’s tank top not only changes positions many times but just before she gets up off the bed to show her wedding dress, the Sharpie marker is gone.
Continuity: In Mexico when Samantha brings breakfast to Carrie in bed, the teapot changes from a simple design with a cover to a more elaborate design without a cover.
Factual errors: Carrie is seen returning books to the main branch of the New York Public Library. That branch has not been a lending library in more than 60 years.
Continuity: While in Mexico, Charlotte tells the other girls that “she is going for a run, then to the gym for pilates” but is clearly seen coming from the spa entrance.
Continuity: When the wedding guests wait for the bride and groom to arrive, Stanford is seen wearing different glasses as we see him wearing later on (and in the rest of the movie). He may have changed his glasses while waiting, but this not seems very likely.
Revealing mistakes: When Dante is first shown on scene having sex he goes from sitting to standing. When he stands there is a flash of the nude-shade band of underwear between the actors bodies.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): In the scene where Carrie is reading from “Love Letters of Great Men, Vol. 1,” Carrie says she “loves the smell” of library books, implying that she loves the old book smell. The book was actually released in 2008, so it wouldn’t really have an old book smell.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): In the scene where Carrie is reading from “Love Letters of Great Men, Vol. 1,” Carrie quotes the poem, and says “I am consumed with your love,” when the poem actually reads, “I am filled with your love.”
Continuity: When Big and Carrie are in the street after he decides he wants to go back and get married they are one a one way street. He has his driver turn around in order to get to her, making him drive in the wrong direction. When he finally leaves the scene he continues driving down the wrong way seemingly into what is showed as bumper to bumper traffic.
Continuity: When the girls are at the restaurant discussing “coloring”, Lily’s purse at one point is laying on its side on the table and then its standing up.
Revealing mistakes: When Big calls Carrie before the wedding and Lily answers Carrie’s cell phone, Lily ends the call without saying anything and flips closed Carrie’s cell phone. The next shot shows Big hearing the dial tone. Cell phones do not have dial tone.
Continuity: When Carrie is leaving Charlotte’s apartment and getting into the car, you can see her shoes are plain white slightly pointed shoes. However, when she is seen running at Big later on, she is wearing silver strapped up gladiator style stilettos.
Revealing mistakes: When Carrie reads emails from John (AKA “Big”), they are all dated in September, when New York City observes Daylight Savings Time. The time stamp on the email incorrectly reads “EST” for Eastern Standard Time, when it should read “EDT” for Eastern Daylight Time.
Continuity: In the scene where the girls go to the fashion show during Mercedes Bendz Fashion Week all the girls sit down except for Samantha who tells the girls to “decide where we’re going for lunch and I’ll make a call.” After Samantha walks away Miranda begins to talk about Steve’s dolphin impression, right before the fashion show begins you see both Samantha and Miranda sit down when Miranda was sitting down since the beginning of the scene.
Continuity: When Miranda and Steve are talking by her apartment door on New Year’s Eve, the deadbolt lock changes from open to closed several times without being touched.
Continuity: When Samantha brings Carrie breakfast in Mexico, the teapot on the tray changes between shots from an ornate to a simple design.
Continuity: When Samantha is lying on the table covered in sushi and the phone rings, she moves and the piece of sushi on her shoulder falls down. There is a visible piece of double sided stick tape there to hold the sushi in place. In the scene time elapses, but it is understood Samantha never leaves the table and remains covered in sushi. When the shot returns to her close up, the piece of tape has been removed from her shoulder.

“Notting Hill” Goofs List

Continuity: Near the end of the movie, Anna Scott goes to the store to talk to William Thacker. When he comes out of his office and stands in front of a desk, behind him is a stack of books, all the same style. They are all facing the same way. The next scene the top two are facing another way from the bottom one.
Continuity: Will heads out wearing a belt. When he is in the orange juice shop the belt is gone, but it reappears as he leaves the shop.
Continuity: Three separate times during the movie, the same mother and child are seen in the alley beside William’s book shop. All three times this person and child are wearing the same clothes and are in the same physical position.
Crew or equipment visible: Just after Anna and William have collided in the street, the camera operator is clearly visible reflected in Anna’s sunglasses for one shot.
Factual errors: An addled customer enters William’s travel bookstore and asks for books by Charles Dickens. He’s sent away with an admonished, “This is a travel bookstore”, but a true travel book professional would know that Dickens wrote several notable travel books, including “American Notes” and “Pictures from Italy”.
Continuity: While William and Martin are talking about Topol and Ringo Starr, a man with red hair walks past twice in the same direction.
Continuity: When Anna and William are together in his house and he is reading the newspaper and she is reading her lines, the picture on the paper he is reading changes.
Continuity: Honey puts on the necklace when she is opening her birthday presents. It disappears and reappears between shots.
Continuity: When William is listening to Anna at Kenwood House, he is wearing his glasses. When he stands up and gives his earphone back to Harry, the soundman, his glasses are gone.
Continuity: The orange juice on William’s shirt disappears after the kiss in the kitchen.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): At Honey’s birthday party it is revealed that William’s nickname is “Floppy.” After Anna climbs the fence into the private garden she says “Come on, Flopsy.”
Continuity: When Anna wants to use the bathroom, it is the door seen from the bottom of the stairs. Later on that same day it becomes William’s bedroom door. Also, in one shot, the bathroom door has windows. Later in the movie, it becomes a plan wooden door.
Miscellaneous: Towards the end when Anna gives William the painting, over William’s right shoulder is an orange coloured book called Comics, Comix and Graphic Novels. Not, in fact, a travel book.
Continuity: When William Thacker visits the set at Hampstead Heath he is stopped by a security guard at a checkpoint. When he enters the set after speaking with Anna Scott not only is the guard gone but so is any type of security checkpoint.
Miscellaneous: In the opening montage of Anna (before William and Anna meet), the shot of her getting out of the limousine is from the scene at the end, when William is actually with her.
Continuity: When William leaves Hampstead Heath after overhearing Anna talking to the other actor on set, he is wearing a dark blue shirt and has no jacket. The next shot has him entering the book shop with a light blue shirt and a jacket slung over his shoulder. (The next scene, which is set the next day, has him wearing the pink shirt for the remainder of the film.)
Revealing mistakes: Although Bella is in a wheelchair and complains of the fact that her house needs ramps for her to get around, there is a step without a ramp leading to her front door. In one scene she is seen about to leave the house in her wheelchair, unassisted.
Continuity: When Anna first comes into the book shop, and William is speaking to her about books on Turkey, he holds up a hardback with an orange cover, mentioning the “amusing incident with a kebab”. Later, when he decides to give her that book for free, he picks it up again to show her, but it is clearly a different book, with a blue cover.
Continuity: In the first scene where William encounters Anna, Rufus (the book thief) is shown several times in the background. Initially he has several days growth of beard, and in one of the shots he appears to be freshly shaven, then back to the growth of beard.
Continuity: As William first enters the elevator at the Ritz, he asks the other person what floor they’re going to. They respond “three”, but when they both leave the elevator, the number “1″ is clearly visible on the elevator’s floor indicator.
Continuity: Honey starts the film with shoulder length hair. In the “Ain’t No Sunshine” montage, Honey’s hair is cut short, understandable in the passage of time, but in a subsequent scene in the book shop when she gives Will Anna’s agents’ phone numbers, her hair is long again. When she announces she’s getting engaged to Spike at the closing of Tony’s restaurant, it is short again. The film only spans about a year.
Continuity: When Anna first comes into William’s house, William tells her, “The bathroom’s on the top floor, and the telephone’s just… just up there” (pointing to the landing, one flight up). However, we see later that the bathroom’s only two flights up; William’s bedroom is on the top floor, three flights up. (While there’s a phone in the kitchen, he presumably wants to let her have some privacy.)
Continuity: When Anna first comes into William’s house and William tells her the way to the bathroom, the blackboard beside William says in big letters “SPIKE CLEAN UP”. In the next shot from behind William the letters on the blackboard are much smaller.
