• Crew or equipment visible: When George and Tuna first enter Derek Foreal’s salon, the assistant director can be seen on the left gesturing and yelling, “Action”.
• Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When George and Mirtha are fighting, George’s mother, not a crew member, can be seen from the kitchen. She was originally supposed to be in the scene, but the long shots were not used, and her presence seems incongruous.
• Anachronisms: When the house is full of money, the twenty dollar bills are clearly from a much later issue.
• Continuity: The sweat stains on Diego’s shirt when he first meets Escobar.
• Continuity: George and Escobar’s relative positions during their first meeting.
• Errors in geography: “Norman’s Cay” is hilly, yet it’s in the Bahamas, which are flat.
• Anachronisms: Kevin mentions the pot market at Hampshire College in 1969. Hampshire College admitted its first class in 1970.
• Crew or equipment visible: When Tuna is driving the RV cross country, the crew truck is visible in the windshield.
• Continuity: The man that leads them to their first Mexican marijuana connection has his hair in a ponytail. In the next shot when they are following him, his hair is loose.
• Anachronisms: The clip that Mirtha was wearing in her hair at the end of the movie did not exist until the mid 1990s.
• Crew or equipment visible: In the final drug bust, a crew member wearing a gold watch is visible behind the plastic.
• Anachronisms: When George and his friends steal the small plane, a Boeing 757 is taking off in the background. The 757 was not designed or produced until the 1980s.
• Anachronisms: In the off-kilter shot of the motel sign, a pick-up truck is visible in the foreground. That particular model was not available in the 1970s.
• Revealing mistakes: Flipped shot: When George is first taken to Colombia to meet Pablo Escobar and the plane is landing in the background, the Chevy bow-ties on the front of the pickup trucks in the foreground are backwards.
• Boom mic visible: Towards the end of the movie, when George calls Derek from the payphone to make the final deal, a boom mic appears.
• Anachronisms: When they first go to Mexico, a VW Beetle in the background has turn signal lights on the front bumper. VW signal lights were on top of the fenders from the 1940s to the 1970s. The lights moved to the bumpers in the 1980s.
• Anachronisms: When George is selling marijuana along the beach, he talks to some bikers. One of the motorcycles shown is a late 1990s Harley Davidson Sportster.
• Factual errors: The Mexican airport scene, which takes place in 1968, includes a 1973 VW micro bus.
• Continuity: When George visits his parents after Barb dies, he drinks and smokes with his father. George takes a deep rolling hit from his cigarette, but never exhales.
• Anachronisms: When George goes to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, looking for a marijuana dealer, you can see a Ladatel prepaid telephone card sign in the entrance of a store in the background. The Ladatel prepaid card didn’t exist until the late 80’s, and the sign is from the late 90’s.
• Anachronisms: At Logan Airport, when George is returning from Cartegena in 1976, at least two passengers have wheeled luggage. Wheeled personal luggage was invented in 1989 by airline pilot Bob Plath, and introduced by Travelpro, which he founded.
• Miscellaneous: At Logan Airport, when George returns from Cartegena in 1976, a man in a brown coat with a reddish scarf picks up a bag, then walks through the immigration and customs station behind George without being checked through.
• Continuity: When George gets busted the last time, his lawyer brings him a pack of Camels. He opens it and sets them to his right. When the lawyer pushes the tape recorder towards him, the Camels are on his left side. When he gets ready to start the player, they’re back on his right side.
• Continuity: After George and Dulli steal the plane when they arrive in Mexico the plane is out of control as they try to land on the runway. They pass the waiting drug dealer still going at a decent speed, still bouncing up and down. In the next shot, as they’re getting out of the plane, George and Dulli are right next to the crowd waiting for them. It would be impossible for the plane to have landed that close to the group after that landing.
• Revealing mistakes: In the scene after George meets Pablo Escobar and his associate is executed, Escobar’s henchmen are dragging the “dead” body. However, you can still see the “dead” man isn’t actually dead, the man’s legs are bent and his feet flat on the ground.
• Continuity: When George toasts with his father, there is smoke coming from his cigarette. In the next shot, he lights it.

“Mr. Brooks” Goofs List

• Continuity: Before Detective Atwood ever sees any action, her knuckles are scraped and bruised from fighting.
• Crew or equipment visible: When Mr. Brooks is talking to Jane in his office, you can see the camera man’s arm in the window reflection behind Mr. Brooks’ desk.
• Continuity: After the Man of the Year ceremony, Mrs. Brooks takes the ring on her right ring finger off and puts it into her jewelery box, when the camera changes angles, she is seen taking the same ring off again.
• Incorrectly regarded as goofs: The movie is supposed to be set in Oregon, however the license plates on the cars let you know that it can’t possibly be Oregon. Oregon license plates have three letters and then three numbers or vice versa. Not two letters and then a number with two numbers and a letter for the second half of the plate. This, however, is a common device in filmmaking, as film producers do not wish to actual registrations. Films shot in New York and Washington almost always feature cars whose license plates fail to conform to registration patterns.
• Revealing mistakes: When Detective Tracey Atwood’s head is stitched it is a visibly huge and nasty head wound which would normally need some bandaging in addition to the stitches. However, in subsequent scenes there are no bandages visible nor is her hair shaved.
• Continuity: As Earl is getting out of a taxi, he walks with a cane held with his right hand for a short distance. When he reaches his car, he hooks the cane over his left arm. In the next shot, he’s holding the cane in his left hand by its shaft.
• Continuity: When Mr. Brooks kills the first couple, the lamp inside the room is turned on. However, after he kills the couple, the room is dark and the lamp is off. The lamp later appears turned on in the photograph. The reflection of the lamp which appears turned off can also be seen right after the couple gets killed.
• Continuity: When Earl drives the jeep to Jane’s school, you can see the Axe in the car and near it you can see the gear handle is set on PARKING. As the camera goes up, you can clearly see the car is moving and Earl is driving it.
• Continuity: During the car chase after the abduction of Atwood, the white van contacts a number of other vehicles causing significant damage to the van. At the end of this sequence the van is seen escaping but without any obvious sign of damage to the van.
• Continuity: When Det. Atwood is taken into the van, the van turns into an alley with the sliding door open. Turning into the next street from the alley, the door is closed. The next shot with the van driving along the street shows the door open again.
• Errors in geography: CVS pharmacy signs are visible at various times throughout the movie (most commonly during car rides), like when Mr. Brooks picks up Mr. Smith for the last time. CVS Pharmacies are not present in Portland, where the story is said to take place but are prevalent in L.A. where filming for many movies occurs. They are also common in Louisiana, where much of this film was shot.
• Errors in geography: While driving after the awards banquet, a Chase bank sign is clearly seen out the window. Chase has no locations in Portland; they do however, have locations in Louisiana, where the movie was mostly filmed. Same with Morgan Keegan when Marshal and Earl are coming over the bridge, on the way to the dance students’ home.
• Errors in geography: There is a scene where signs for US highways 79 and 80 are prominently shown. Neither highway is anywhere near Portland, Oregon. (Coincidentally, Portland did at one time contain a segment of Interstate 80N, but it is doubtful that the filmmakers planned this to cover the goof; Interstate 80N was in no way related to US highway 80, and it was re-designated as Interstate 84 many years ago). Both US Route 79 and 80 both run through Louisiana, where most of this movie was filmed.
• Continuity: When Mr Brooks is driving Mr Smith around for the first time, it is raining heavily, yet when they drive past a new car dealership, none of the cars are wet and the coin op car wash across the street is full of people washing their cars.
• Continuity: On the way to the cemetery when Mr. Smith pulls his gun on Mr. Brooks the hammer is pulled back. During their conversation Mr. Smith pulls the already cocked hammer back again.
• Factual errors: When Mr. Brooks is reading the paper, the first page contains the story of Meeks’s murder-suicide. In the upper section, there is a note about DNA showing Mr. Smith to be the Thumbprint Killer. DNA would take a week to process at very minimum (more likely six to eight weeks), at which point Meeks’ story would no longer be breaking news as it is portrayed.
• Revealing mistakes: Mr. Brooks’ glasses are made of glass and aren’t prescription lenses. You can see this in two scenes in particular: the scene in the beginning where Mr. Brooks and his wife go out for ice cream and the scene where Mr. Brooks is burning the pictures. Also, it is unlikely that this could have been intended by the filmmakers because Mr. Brooks’ daughter puts them at least once when she is in his office.
• Continuity: In the scene where the murder victim swings out of the ceiling and hits Demi Moore in the face, blood is streaming out of her broken nose. In subsequent shots, the blood has completely disappeared and she is not bleeding at all.
• Revealing mistakes: SPOILER: When Detective Tracy Atwood is abducted, the van she is in is seen at times with the side door open and then closed as she struggles to free herself.
• Revealing mistakes: SPOILER: When Meeks shoots himself in the head, a spray of blood appears on the wall behind him. In the next shot the blood is gone.
• Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): SPOILER: When Mr. Brooks and Mr. Smith first go into the cemetery, Mr. Brooks hands Mr. Smith the keys so he can get back out. However, after Mr. Brooks kills Mr. Smith, he does not retrieve the keys before rolling Mr. Smith into the grave.

• Continuity: When Karen is holding a gun in Henry’s face, a different gun is used for close-up and long shots.
• Continuity: When Karen visits Henry in prison, cheese and salami on the table change position between shots.
• Continuity: When Karen visits Henry in jail the daughter sitting on her lap plays with blocks. These blocks change between shots.
• Continuity: When Karen is throwing things on the table while visiting Henry in prison, her youngest daughter is crying on Henry’s lap. She goes to hug him and immediately is seen with a bottle and pacifier which she did not have in her hands the second before.
• Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When Tommy takes out Stacks, he says, “You’d be late to your own funeral” as he puts the gun to the back of Stacks’ head. When they show Tommy in slow motion, he doesn’t say anything. This is not a goof but rather because Tommy shoots him once in the head and then moves positions before shooting him again. In slow-mo, we do not see the first shot, only the latter ones.
• Anachronisms: When Lois is making the call that dooms Henry, the Trimline phone she used has the post-divestiture AT&T logo which was not created until 1984, four years after this scene takes place.
• Anachronisms: In the establishing shots of “Idlewild Airport, 1963,” we see a Swissair jet in a livery consisting of black and dark green stripes and the title “Swissair” in lower-case red letters on the fuselage. This color scheme was not introduced on Swissair aircraft until 1981.
• Continuity: When Sonny Bunz has his sitdown with Paulie about Tommy, there is an over-the-shoulder shot from behind Sonny of Paulie talking with a cigar in his mouth. The next shot is an over-the-shoulder from behind Paulie of Sonny, but there’s no cigar in Paulie’s mouth. The following shot is another over-the-shoulder from behind Sonny and Paulie has the cigar in his mouth again.
• Continuity: When the police car pulls up when Jimmy is handing out cartons of cigarettes from the truck hijacking, the same two-tone brown 1957 Buick two-door sedan drives by in the background several times in the same direction.
• Crew or equipment visible: Front of camera can be seen reflected in the side of the phone booth Jimmy is in when he calls about Tommy being made.
• Continuity: When Henry brings in the bag of supplies in jail he hands the wine bottles to Paulie then picks up a bottle of scotch and two jars. The next camera shot shows him holding bread, a different bottle of scotch and two jars.
• Crew or equipment visible: When young Henry and Tuddy Cicero are “running around” and making Paul’s phone calls and Henry enters the phone booth, you can see a wireless mike pack in his back pocket.
• Factual errors: Henry looks into a bag filled with $20 bills over his narration. The 20s are signed by “James A. Baker” (James Baker III), who was Treasury Secretary in 1985. The scene, however, takes place in the mid to late 1970s.
• Revealing mistakes: When Karen drives off after Jimmy tells her to go into the dress shop, the car blows a fake license plate off a car.
• Continuity: After Tommy shoots Spider’s foot, Henry gets up to help him, but can be seen sitting down in the background.
• Revealing mistakes: Obvious blood spray used in wide shot of Stacks Edwards Hit. Also, Tommy’s gun does not recoil.
• Continuity: The phone jumps around on Morry’s shoulder when he’s talking to Henry.
• Continuity: Henry’s Catholic cross and Star of David during the shower scene.
• Crew or equipment visible: A camera is visible in the background at Henry’s mother-in-law’s house when they go to hide the gun.
• Continuity: Series of over 10 shots where items such as wine glasses and napkins on the table fill, empty and move themselves while Tommy is telling his anecdote at the restaurant.
• Anachronisms: Near the end, when Henry is driving around and watching for the helicopter, a package of Winston cigarettes is on the dashboard of his car. This particular package design has a gold eagle on it and was newly marketed beginning around 1987, several years after the story takes place.
• Anachronisms: The Cadillac Coupe DeVille Phaeton (a 1979 model) that Henry drives (while watching the helicopter near the end) has a rear dash-mounted brake light, which wasn’t available until 1986, although the scene is set in the late 1970s.
• Continuity: A title card dates the Billy Batts murder as June 11, 1970. Later, Henry says “it’s been six months” when they go to dig up the grave. It should therefore be winter in New York, but the boys are in shirt sleeves and Henry’s kids are going to the beach the next day.
• Continuity: When Henry’s mistress is having a party and showing off her new apartment, the ladies walk from the living room to the bedroom. The second lady changes positions to the third lady entering the bedroom.
• Continuity: During Tommy’s “Why am I funny” speech, the position of Henry’s left hand, as well as the objects he is holding (cigarette, glass) change and move.
• Anachronisms: The pay phone in the airport diner is of the familiar current design, which was introduced by the Bell System in the late 1960s, or several years after this scene takes place (1963). It is, however, the rotary dial version.
• Factual errors: When Maury’s address is shown in his TV ad, not only is it not hyphenated, as all Queens addresses are, but addresses in Queens are written as “Neighborhood, NY”, not “Queens, NY”. Names of the other four boroughs are used in the address, however, except for Manhattan addresses, which are always “New York, NY”.
• Continuity: Karen’s sweater has dirt on the shoulder after Henry’s fight. When she is at the door the sweater is clean.
• Anachronisms: The bass player in the band in the restaurant in 1963 is playing a Gibson EB-2D which was not introduced until 1966.
• Crew or equipment visible: Reflected in the window while Karen is trying to find where Jimmy is keeping the stolen dresses.
• Boom mic visible: When Henry is released from prison and Karen is waiting by her car, the mic is reflected in the car window as Karen turns to her right to hug Henry.
• Continuity: In the “You’re a funny guy” scene, a styrofoam coffee cup disappears and reappears three times.
• Incorrectly regarded as goofs: During the “You’re a funny guy” scene (set in 1963), a bottle of Crown Royal whisky can be seen on the table. Crown Royal wasn’t introduced for sale until 1965. Tommy smuggled Crown Royal into the States before it was legally imported.
• Anachronisms: When young Henry Hill is arrested for selling black-market cigarettes (late 1950s), UPC barcodes are visible on the cigarette cartons. UPC barcodes first appeared in the late 1970s.
• Revealing mistakes: When the mailman’s head is pushed into the pizza oven, his hand is clearly seen resting on the inside of the oven door before the image is frozen, even though a cooked pizza is shown inside the oven as it is opened (i.e. it was too hot for him to keep his hand there for the few seconds shown without reacting).
• Crew or equipment visible: At 42.56 minutes, one of the cameramen can be seen on the right-hand side of the screen.
• Crew or equipment visible: During the long Steadicam shot through the restaurant’s kitchen, the camera’s shadow is briefly visible on the left-hand side as it exits.
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Billy Batts says, “What?” to Tommy in the bar, Billy’s lips don’t move.
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Billy Batts is mocking Tommy in the bar he eventually raises his glass and says “Salud, Tommy”, but his lips aren’t moving.

• Errors in geography: Lee and Carter arrive at the Yau Ma Tei Police Station while inside the station the signs say Central Police Station – two different areas of Hong Kong.
• Continuity: The first two letters on Lee’s license plate are JY, however when he drives Carter to the airport, they read JG.
• Boom mic visible: As Lee and Carter sit in the black convertible Corvette, the boom is reflected in the windshield.
• Continuity: The truck’s trailer leaves L.A. with polished aluminum wheels. By the time it gets to Las Vegas it has painted wheels.
• Continuity: Lee’s hands come apart when he jumps over the table, even though they are supposed to be taped together.
• Revealing mistakes: The wall in the massage parlor moves when pushed during the fight.
• Revealing mistakes: When Steven Reign removes the printing plates from the safe, you can easily read a “100″ on one of them, but the “100″ (and everything else) should reversed.
• Continuity: When Lee is translating for Carter, the microphone is in Lee’s hand one minute, and in Carter’s hand the next.
• Continuity: When Lee is sitting in a car, the song “I’ll be missing you” by Puff Daddy, starts to play on the radio. We cut away to the caller, and then back – apparently in “real time” – but now the song on the radio is almost at its end, although only 3 seconds have passed.
• Revealing mistakes: When Carter is fighting Hu Li in the casino, Carter grabs the wheel from a roulette table. He grabs a hold of the center shaft which should be metal, but it bends easily to show that it is made of rubber. In the instant before he grabs it, you can also see that it is bent out of shape.
• Crew or equipment visible: When Carter and Hu Li are fighting in the Casino right before she is knocked out and is trying to kill Carter with the sword, Crew member is clearly seen in the lower left of the screen holding the statute. Afterwards he is gone.
• Continuity: When Hu Li and Carter are fighting in the casino, Hu Li is meant to be wearing high heels but a pair of boots can be clearly seen when she gets up after doing the splits.
• Continuity: At the airport at the end of the movie, the arm strap on Lee’s bag goes from twisted to straight several times between shots.
• Crew or equipment visible: When Carter, Isabella, and Lee are talking in the motel room, the camera can be seen reflected in the glass on the upper right hand corner of the screen.
• Continuity: When the plane takes off from Hong Kong it is a much smaller than the 747 United flight that lands in LA and the underside is not painted blue.
• Factual errors: Carter buys into the craps game for $100,000 and two stacks of 20 chips were then slid in front of him. He complains that he was given $500 chips. It would take ten stacks of $500 chips to make $100,000.
• Continuity: When Lee and Carter arrive back at Lee’s office, and are putting their clothes back on. Lee puts his tie on backward, in the next shot, it is right.
• Continuity: In the hotel room Ricky Tan stabs Steven Reign with a knife around the belt or stomach area. When Reign falls backwards the knife is way up high near his heart.

• Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): SPOILER: When Hub reads General Devereaux his rights he interrupts the correct terms, in the presence of many witnesses, with a diatribe of personal opinion. This is strictly against procedure and is common ground for a claim of improper arrest.
• Continuity: During the first chase scene, the FBI car in which Hubbard is riding shows damage to the right front fender before it hits anything. That damage then disappears.
• Continuity: Nearly the entire movie is set in the dead of winter (heavy coats, visible breath, etc.) yet the fly-over of the capitol building shows trees in full bloom.
• Continuity: When the bus blows up, at one point the blast wave is seen hitting two cars. The blast hits first the car that is further away from the explosion, and the hits the car that is closer to the explosion.
• Continuity: The enormous blast when the bus explodes, which produces a massive shock wave, does not affect the helicopters circling above, as is seen with the steady camera footage later on.
• Errors in geography: Sheik Ahmed Bin Talal is shown the be abducted in Lebanon, and a desert is shown. Lebanon is the only Arab country without a desert.
• Continuity: During the car chase at the beginning of the film, the removable headrest in Hub’s car disappears and reappears between shots.
• Continuity: Sharon’s hand on Samir’s chin during first scene in Samir’s apartment.
• Continuity: After the bus explosion, the blood on Hub’s face disappears and reappears between shots.
• Factual errors: General Devereaux mentions the M16-A1 assault rifle when he should have said the M16-A2
• Continuity: The terrorist’s hands are on/off the pizza box depending on the angle.
• Revealing mistakes: When Hubbard is thrown off his balance and he falls to the ground, you can see that the pavement bends a little under him – a telltale sign that the pavement is not real.
• Continuity: Hub’s drink disappears and reappears several times when he is in the restaurant with Elsie.
• Continuity: When the pizza box is delivered to the cell in the apartment, it is clearly sealed, with all three sides tucked in. When the terrorist places the box on the table and carries on a conversation with the other terrorists, the side flaps on the box are clearly untucked as if the box had been opened, but yet the man never opened the box until it exploded.
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Hub and the other FBI agents raid Tariq’s chop shop in Redhook, a shotgun can be heard being cocked even though the agent holding it is taking his hand off it when the sound is heard.
• Continuity: Mark Valley’s character FBI Agent Mike Johanssen appeared in the showdown between Agent Hubbard and General Devereaux (behind General Deveraux). However, Agent Johanssen was killed in an earlier scene at the 1 Federal Plaza bombing.
• Continuity: When Hubbard gets a nose bleed while briefing the FBI agents his tie is long and hangs well below his belt. In the next shot it is shorter and shaped differently, and then back to being long in the following shot.
• Continuity: When Devereaux speaks on live TV about imposing martial law, he is speaking from New York in broad daylight. Yet, within the same scene, a “live” broadcast of Devereaux’s speech is shown on a giant screen from Times Square, also in New York, and yet it is night there.
• Continuity: In one scene before the bus explodes, Hub and Frank are driving in a car and Elise / Sharon is sitting on the rear seat. During the shots in which she is shown, you can clearly see through the rear window that the following cars are changing between shots.
• Continuity: The length of the cigarette Hubbard is holding changes while he’s interrogating the suspect about the suitcase of money.
• Continuity: During the standoff between Gen. Devereaux and Hub the General initially does not stand down, but calls out “Captain”, which is the signal for the army personnel to raise their weapons. After Hub convinces the General to stand down Devereaux calls out not to the Captain, but to the Sergeant to lower his weapon.

• Revealing mistakes: The patches worn by the New York City police officers that go to the Donatelli home are not actual New York City police patches.
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: At one hour into the movie, Jigsaw is sitting on stairs firing a gun. When the gun is out of bullets, you hear him yell “fuck!” but if you look at his mouth, he is saying “shit!”
• Factual errors: While killing Pittsy, Punisher is clearly holding a dummy, not a real girl.
• Incorrectly regarded as goofs: This movie is a reboot and not a sequel to The Punisher (2004), so any differences between the two movies are not necessarily continuity errors.
• Factual errors: Glock pistols are heard being cocked. Glocks do not have external hammers so they cannot be thumb-cocked.

“The Big Lebowski” Goofs List

• Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Walter draws the firearm and the Dude says, “Man, they’re calling the cops.” The cops show up as they are leaving. A call from Smokey and Dude and Walter’s tournament advancement imply that they stayed long enough to win the round. This is presumably a sly comment on the lethargic response time of LAPD to what they consider a non-urgent call.
• Continuity: When Dude is attacked in his bathroom, there are two toilet bowl brush holders to the left of the toilet. During the course of the fight, the position of the blue holder changes – it goes from standing to lying on its side and then back to standing.
• Anachronisms: When Walter, The Dude and Donny are sitting at the bar in the bowling alley, discussing the kidnappers, Donny’s can of Slice and a can of Pepsi are both newer, post-1991 designs.
• Anachronisms: Post-1991 cars can be seen in the background where Walter and The Dude are sitting and having their coffee in the diner. Another, a black Nissan Maxima, drives past as The Dude is thrown from a taxicab in a later scene.
• Crew or equipment visible: When The Dude is driving, and first notices the blue Volkswagen following him, the hood-mounted camera equipment is reflected in his sunglasses.
• Revealing mistakes: When The Dude mixes a White Russian during the second visit with Maude, he adds powdered milk to the glass, then picks up an entirely different pre-mixed White Russian.
• Continuity: The mat in front of the toilet disappears and reappears between shots.
• Continuity: When the Dude and Walter are scattering Donny’s ashes, the time of day changes and the waves change direction.
• Continuity: When the Dude is reading the ransom note at The Big Lebowski’s home, the joint he is smoking is in his hand. When the shot focuses on him, it’s in his mouth. This occurs twice.
• Continuity: When The Dude is in the bathtub smoking a joint with all of the candles lit, the Nihilists come in and throw the ferret in the tub with him. There are four candles in the corner to the left of The Dude. When The Dude starts thrashing around he puts three of the four candles out with the water and when it cuts away then goes back to him, the three candles that were out are lit and the one candle that was still lit is out.
• Anachronisms: In the opening sequence, one man (who later turns out to be Jesus’ bowling partner) is bowling with teal Rhino Pro bowling ball which was not available until 1993.
• Continuity: When Walter jumps out of the car at the drop-off point, he loses control of the Uzi and it shoots out the Dude’s left tail light. But when the Dude recovers the car from the police, the same tail light is perfectly normal.
• Crew or equipment visible: When The Dude and Walter are making the money drop off, after Walter jumps out and The Dude crashes the car, when The Dude runs out saying “We have the money,” police lights blocking off the road they are filming on are clearly visible.
• Anachronisms: The car Ulli drives in the adult movie “Logjammin”‘ is a BMW E36 convertible. Production of this car did not start before 1993.
• Revealing mistakes: The ball that the Jesus rolls down the lane is on lane 23, yet the lane number is reversed, as is lane number 24, indicating a flipped shot.
• Continuity: After Walter bails out of the car, he limps favoring his left leg. That night after bowling, when walking away from the lanes, he favors his other leg.
• Continuity: When The Dude is at Jackie Treehorn’s and he rubs the pad of paper with a pencil revealing Treehorn’s drawing of a naked man, The Dude tears the page off the pad and quickly crumples and shoves the paper into his pocket. Later while in the Chief of Police of Malibu’s office and the Chief is going through The Dude’s wallet, the same paper he tore off of Treehorn’s pad is neatly folded in the wallet, with no sign of previous crumpling.
• Continuity: When the blond thug plunges the Dude’s head repeatedly into the toilet we see the water in the bowl is milky white from the exploded carton of half-and-half. Later when the Dude is leaning against the wall and reaches into the toilet to retrieve his sunglasses, the water is clear.
• Continuity: When the Dude is told about the kidnapping, Mozart’s Requiem is playing in the background on Big Lebowski’s HiFi. However, the timeline of the music does not correspond to the actual conversation.
• Revealing mistakes: When the thug with blonde hair is rushing with the Dude towards the toilet, the Dude’s hair is already wet before his head is shoved in the toilet.
• Continuity: When the Dude is at the Malibu police office, the position of the cup of coffee of the officer changes during different shots. When the Dude falls on his desk, he puts his cup of coffee on the white paper on his desk. In the next shot the cup is on the edge of the white paper. Next shot it moves a little bit towards the officer. And then on the next shot it is again on the edge of the white paper.
• Continuity: At the Malibu police office the officer looks at his value club card and throws it down to the side of the white paper. In the next shot when the officer looks at the note from Treehorn’s house, the value club card is lying oblique on the right of the officer’s hand. In the next shot the card is lying again on top of the white paper, and partially covered by the wallet. The other objects (wallet, notes that were in the wallet, cup of coffee) also change position in different shots.
• Anachronisms: Quite a few of the various bowling balls and shoes, both used and background props, were not commercially available until well after 1991.
• Anachronisms: Jesus Quintana’s wrist brace wasn’t made till 1996.
• Factual errors: When the Dude, Walter and Donny are eating the burgers they supposedly got at In-n-Out, the cups they drink from are not white with a ring of red palm trees, which is the way the cups are at that chain.
• Continuity: When the blond thug in the opening scene drops the bowling ball, the tile on the floor is different than when he picks the ball off the floor.
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: When the Dude calls Walter on Shabbas to pick him up after helping Maude conceive, his mouth eventually stops matching his words.
• Miscellaneous: When Walter and the Dude are on the cliff to spread the ashes and Walter is giving his speech, you can see dust in the Dude’s and Walter’s hair and on Walter’s forehead probably from a previous take.
• Anachronisms: The first sex offender laws, like those which would require Jesus Quintana to notify his neighbors of his paedophilic record, weren’t implemented in California until 1996.
• Anachronisms: During the opening scene, in which the camera moves back to show several bowlers release at the foul line, one bowler rolls a translucent bowling ball. The ball, an Ebonite Clear Wolf, was not released until the mid 1990s, well after the events of the movie took place (1991).
• Continuity: While the Dude, Walter, and Donnie talk about the carpet pissers at the Bowling Alley, the bowlers in the next lane (they can be seen behind Walter) change in incongruous ways. Watch for the big black guy and the big white guy with the pony tail. Also watch the movement of the waitress, which is incongruous. She covers 20 meters within the time it takes the Dude to say “Fuckin’-A”.
• Continuity: In the opening scene with the various bowlers, the big African-American bowler throws an orange ball, but the ball that is shown smashing one pin against the other is blue. This is repeated with the next bowler, who throws a wine red ball but the ball that arrives is red-blue.
• Errors in geography: As the Dude is making his way back from Jackie Treehorn’s pad in Malibu to his own apartment in Venice, he is thrown out of the cab and passed by Bunny in her red convertible. However, if Bunny indeed had been in Palm Springs as Brandt later says, there’s no way she would have passed along that route on her way home to Pasadena.
• Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): In the bathtub scene, The Dude incorrectly refers to the Nihilists’ animal as a “marmot” though it is actually a ferret. However, it is possible that The Dude is not familiar with the difference and may not be a goof by the writers.
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: When The Dude is talking to Da Fino in his car through the open driver’s side window, we hear music playing on the car stereo. When Da Fino gets out of the car and the door is shut behind him, the volume of the music drops as if the window were shut.

• Crew or equipment visible: When Kevin lights the rope on fire, he turns to run away and a crewmember is visible through the window.
• Continuity: The recording of Uncle Frank in the shower is much longer when Kevin plays it back in the Plaza Hotel. We hear things that were sung before and after Kevin started and stopped the recording.
• Continuity: If you turn the closed captions on, they will say “Oh, you’re cooking, Frankie” when Frank sings it and “Oh, you’re cooking with brandy” when Kevin plays it back while in the hotel. This has been corrected in the DVD version.
• Crew or equipment visible: When Harry and Marv run out of the toy store’s broken window, near the end of the movie, there are several shots of them where you can see into the store behind them. In one of these shots, you can see a person’s left shoulder move behind a display on the left side of the screen (the person is wearing a heavy green jacket).
• Revealing mistakes: A black wire of some sort can be clearly seen connected to the staple that hits Marv’s nose.
• Continuity: In the Plaza Hotel, Kevin asks Donald Trump where the lobby is. Trump says down to the left, but Kevin goes down to the right, and arrives in the lobby.
• Continuity: The statue gets broken off its base by the airport van, only to be back on and unbroken in later scenes.
• Errors in geography: When Kevin is sitting at LaGuardia airport he is looking at the Manhattan skyline. You cannot see that view of the city from that airport.
• Continuity: In the long shot of Kevin in the taxi on the bridge he is wearing gloves, but in the close-up he is not.
• Continuity: When Uncle Frank was in the shower singing, Kevin didn’t start recording the song until Uncle was halfway through. When Kevin played the song in the hotel bathroom, the whole song right from the beginning was on the cassette.
• Continuity: When Kevin is in the bed in the hotel room, you see the butler scooping ice cream into the banana split boat, and then the butler asks Kevin, “How many scoops would you like Sir?” and the banana split boat is empty and the butler starts to fill it up.
• Continuity: When Kevin is recording Uncle Frank in the bathroom he runs out before Frank says, “Oh, you’re cooking, Frankie.” Later when Kevin is playing the same recording in the hotel bathroom. We can hear on the recording him saying this.
• Continuity: When Harry and Marv are at the skating rink, Marv puts on the earmuffs, and his hair is pulled back under them. In the next shot, his hair is all muffled up again.
• Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Kevin is seen buying fireworks in Chinatown when he first arrives in New York City. It is illegal to buy or sell fireworks in the state of New York, but when this movie was made, that law was not enforced in Chinatown and it was easy to find vendors there selling fireworks illegally while the police looked the other way.
• Continuity: At the top of the stairs, the tool chest wheels (2 fixed and 2 rotating) are all facing sideways. Before it falls, all the wheels including the fixed wheels are facing forward.
• Factual errors: When Kevin goes swimming at the Plaza, it is a different hotel. The Plaza doesn’t have a pool.
• Continuity: When Harry crashes down on top of the car, his hands are laid out above his head, but in the next shot of him, they are down at his sides.
• Continuity: When Kevin wants to go home he quickly grabs a few cookies from the cabinet to take with him. Then he throws them onto the bed close together, then in the next shot they are spaced out.
• Continuity: When Kevin throws four bricks at Marv, they are shown landing on the sidewalk. Later when Marv gets up, three of them are in the street.
• Revealing mistakes: When Kevin is sawing a ladder, he is sawing it from front to back. Later when Harry climbs the ladder, the sawed portion (back side of ladder) shows it was cut from side to side.
• Continuity: When Kevin hits Buzz in the choir scene, he starts out with a closed fist in the first shot, but then actually makes contact with an open hand in the second.
• Errors in geography: When the family is in Miami, it is shown to be raining constantly, when December is actually the dry season in Florida.
• Miscellaneous: There actually are Christmas trees in South Florida. The Norfolk Island Pine is a tropical pine that is originally from Norfolk Island, east of Australia. It grows pretty much all over south Florida and has even been seen growing as far north as Tampa and even near Orlando, though it does much better farther south, especially from the latitude of the north shores of Lake Okechobee southward. Fully grown, it has a slightly narrower than normal pyramid shape with nearly fern like branches that grow in an evenly tiered pattern, and will generally make a very nice Christmas tree. Farther north, it is usually grown indoors as a potted plant. Usually, outside of the tropics, you will see this pine grown in most offices, especially next to a south facing window.
• Continuity: In the scene where Marv and Harry are hastily climbing down the rope to catch Kevin, and Kevin then sets it on fire to buy him some time, prior to when they let go in the long shot, the rope is clearly not attached to the building.
• Continuity: In the toy store when Kevin is talking to Duncan at the cash register, Duncan asks Kevin about all the money in his envelope. As Kevin is taking money out of the envelope to pay for his things, he places the envelope on the counter. When the camera switches back to the counter, the only things there are the map and Swiss army knife. When Kevin wanted to make a donation to the toy chest, the money envelope was back in his hand.
• Continuity: At the airport, the exterior shot of the plane flown to New York is shown as a Boeing 767-200, which, unlike the -400 series 767, lacks a middle door. When Kevin enters the plane, it is clearly a Boeing 757, evidenced by its single aisle and the door between first class and coach through which he entered, which even then magically becomes an Airbus A300 Cabin with the different overhead bin designs that did not exist on Boeing Aircraft at the time. American has also never flown 767s or A300s between Chicago and LaGuardia.
• Revealing mistakes: When the tool chest pushes the door Marv and Harry have their ears pressed against, the long shot clearly reveals that they are standing on a skateboard as they are pushed backwards.
• Crew or equipment visible: Immediately following the scene with the pigeon lady in the concert hall attic, Kevin walks toward the railing, and you can see a person dressed in black moving around in front of the latticework behind him.
• Continuity: In the scene where Kevin is watching the movie in the hotel room, there is a man making him an ice cream sundae. We see the sundae first completed with 3 scoops of ice cream and then the scene goes to another angle to Kevin on the bed. The attendant asks him how many scoops, and there is only one in the dish.
• Factual errors: When Kevin Arrives at LaGuardia airport he arrives at gate “G6″. There is no “G” wing at LaGuardia airport plus the lettering style is the same as it was at O’Hare, indicating that it was in fact filmed at O’Hare.
• Factual errors: In the scene in the airport, there are Navy sailors in dress white uniforms. The proper dress for winter time is Dress blues.
• Incorrectly regarded as goofs: In the original “Home Alone”, Kevin’s sister counts heads and there are 15 people between the 2 families. In “Home Alone 2″ there are only 14 boarding passes between the 2 families. However, in the first movie the McCallisters travel to Paris to drop off the oldest daughter, Heather, with her parents. Therefore in the second film it is implied that Heather is in Paris during the events that take place in this film.
• Continuity: When Kevin is recording the Plaza Hotel commercial with his TalkBoy and it says the toll free number, Peter walks in and asks about the battery for the camcorder, overlapping it, yet when Kevin plays it back at the hotel, Peter’s voice is not included on it.
• Continuity: The bag of stolen money changes moves between shots when Marv is getting hit by the bricks.

• Errors in geography: During the movie the teletype text says, “Russian Border – Turkey” This film takes place during modern times and Turkey does not border Russia but Bulgaria, among other countries. They could be referring to the Azerbaijan-Turkey border, as Azerbaijan is a member of the CIS, sometimes (incorrectly) referred to as “Russia”, especially by Americans, but this would still be inaccurate.
• Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Many of the scenes showing Agent 47 as a child during training are taken from James Cameron’s “Dark Angel”. The child playing young 47 is actually Geneva Locke, a girl! She plays young Max, Jessica Alba’s character in Dark Angel.
• Continuity: Near the end of the film, when Interpol Inspector Michael Whittier is sitting in the ambulance, his shirt is open, he then is shown to be buttoning it closed, but in the next shot (from far away) his shirt is still completely open. In the next shot, from up close as he stands his shirt is completely buttoned closed again.
• Factual errors: SPOILER: When the Interpol agents storm the Arch Bishop’s chamber (after 47 kills Belicoff), they are shown with Israeli gas masks that are supposed to have a filter chamber on the mouth.
• Continuity: SPOILER: When 47 shoots Mikhail Belicoff, the bullet appears to hit Belicoff in the forehead, just above the eyes. Later, when 47 learns that Belicoff is still alive, he states that he shot Belicoff through the nasal cavity, several inches below where he actually appeared to have shot him. Later, it becomes clear that Belicoff was actually shot in the left side of his forehead, again several inches away from previous locations shown (this is shown by Belicoff’s double’s bandage, Belicoff’s corpse at the morgue, and a diagram during a short montage). Belicoff’s corpse in the morgue is also shown to have a fairly neat entry wound, whereas in the footage of him being shot, the top half of his head is obliterated entirely.
• Continuity: With the Interpol agents coming down from the private plane, you can hear the engines powering down but when you look at the jet turbines, you don’t see them moving at all.
• Factual errors: Since the movie is filmed in Bulgaria, many road signs are in Bulgarian, not Russian.
• Continuity: Throughout the first few scenes Nika is in, her makeup is smeared. After 47 lets her out of the trunk and gives her breakfast sandwich, her makeup is suddenly flawless, and she has much less on.
• Incorrectly regarded as goofs: In the scene in the hotel room in Russia, when Nika gets up and stands on the balcony, Agent 47 is reading through papers on his target. In them Istanbul is spelt ‘Istambul’. However, the name of “Istambul” is still used among many European countries.
• Factual errors: Like many other movies portraying Interpol agents many mistakes are made concerning how Interpol works and operates. For example Interpol officers do not directly conduct inquiries in member countries and Interpol’s constitution forbids its involvement in several types of crimes, such as political ones.
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Agent 47 and Nika are in the car while she’s eating her sandwich, 47 says, “Back at the station, you interfered”. The “you interfered” doesn’t match up with what he’s saying.
• Crew or equipment visible: At 48:45 a wire or cable can be seen under the opposite side of the detective’s car as he stands outside speaking with the Russian police.
• Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Whittier states that the passage on the cross from 47’s luggage is from Psalms. It is actually a shortened version of Proverbs 3:5-6.
• Errors in geography: Interpol headquarters is located in Lyons, France and not in London.
• Continuity: During the scene where 47 shoots the two bodyguards in the bathroom, he shoots the fat bodyguard once, though two bullet holes can easily be seen – one on each shoulder blade.
• Factual errors: Michael Whittier said that a bullet that hit Belicoff was fired 4km away, however, no sniper rifle is capable for such a far shoot, the longest range recorded for sniper kill is merely 2430m. There isn’t a rifle or munition in existence that has the accuracy or effective distance to be able to hit someone from four kilometres away.
• Continuity: After Agent 47 finishes talking to Nika in the car, the scene cuts to the car from the rear driving away. The Audi that is driving away is an RS4 Cabriolet. It is the same car Agent 47 uses while going to the Palace of Udre but not the car which he stole from Belicoff’s man. That was an Audi S5.
• Continuity: When 47 and Nika return from the restaurant, there is no chest at the bottom of the bed, however when 47 returns from Udre’s club, he throws his gloves down onto a chest at the bottom of the bed.
• Errors in geography: On the northern hemisphere (Istanbul), when the sun is rising, it should travel from left to right and can be seen on the southern sky. It seems that the rising sun in Istanbul-shot is filmed in the southern hemisphere.
• Errors in geography: President Belicoff speaks to a reporter in a middle of a large demonstration of protesters, supposedly in Russia. But the sign on the building is in Bulgarian – “Ivan Vazov National Theatre”, which is, in fact, located in Sofia, Bulgaria.
• Revealing mistakes: While Agent 47 is fighting under the train, during one of his punches you can clearly see it’s not Agent 47, but rather the Assassin who was shot earlier.
• Crew or equipment visible: Opening shot: entering the house, camera crew is visible in the left window just after he puts down his coat.
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: When the female reporter starts to interview Belicoff in St

• Continuity: When 47 is shown entering his hotel room for the first time the door reads “501″. When the door is shown again during the police raid it reads “515″.
• Factual errors: On the back patches of FSB uniforms, the Cyrillic letter “S” (C) is flipped left-to-right.
• Continuity: When Agent 47 gets a call on his cell when he’s at the train station, the date on the cell is 10/5/07. At the end of the movie, when Smith gets the text message on his cell from Agent 47 saying they’re even, Smith’s cell phone shows the date 8/15/07.
• Errors in geography: The train station is supposed to be in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The signs in the tunnels of the train station say it is in Moscow.
• Continuity: When Nika and Agent 47 are in the car and she’s eating a sandwich, a moment later you see Nika and on the closeup on her face you see a blond hair sticking out of the right side of her mouth (was she eating a hairy sandwich?). The camera changes to Agent 47 and then back to Nika and the hair’s gone.
• Continuity: In the train fight scene, after Agent 47 kicks the other blade wielding agent out of the train window. Agent 47 removes the (very bloody) blades he had already used, from the other dead agents. However after he gets down, below train level, to begin fighting once again, the blades appear clean.
• Errors in geography: When Agent 47 first leaves St. Petersburg for Moscow, the cut scene where “Moscow – Russia” is displayed on the screen is showing an image of the Kazan Cathedral, located in St. Petersburg.
• Errors in geography: The interpol agents and St. Petersburg police discuss intercepting Agent 47 at the St. Petersburg Station. However there is no St. Petersburg train station in St. Petersburg. The train station shown on the map is the Moscow Station, located in Revolution Square whereas the Leningrad (the former name for St. Petersburg) station is located in Moscow. They were designed by the same architect and deliberately misplaced to represent the bond between the two cities.
• Errors in geography: When the interpol agent chases Agent 47 down the hallway of his hotel, he escapes by jumping through a window and dropping straight down into the canal below – however this is not possible in St. Petersburg. The canals do not run alongside buildings. The way the actual city is set up, alongside each channel of the canal is a sidewalk, then a street, then a wider sidewalk alongside the buildings. He would have had to jump nearly ten meters to make the water.

• Revealing mistakes: SPOILER: In the final scene in the old hospital when Alice stands over the pool and shoots Dr. Jonas who is underwater, anyone who has ever shot a pool of water knows that it makes a gigantic splash. The pool is virtually still and water is not seen flying up at Alice.
• Continuity: Jerry takes off his hat on the bus when talking to Ms. Sutton. The hat briefly reappears when he says “military industrial complex.”
• Revealing mistakes: Sparks still flying from the vendor cart after it stops against the police car.
• Revealing mistakes: When the shock troops rappel down from the black helicopter they can be seen to land on soft mats rather than hard New York City pavement.
• Factual errors: The scenes from Ladyhawke (1985) are shown out of sequence.
• Continuity: Jerry takes out a metal tin from the fridge labeled “TAPIOCA”, but when he is seen later eating it, it is labeled “TAPIOCA PUDDING”.
• Continuity: Jerry and Alice leave the Queensboro Bridge towards Connecticut in broad daylight; a few minutes later when they cross under an interstate highway intersection in the Bronx it is pitch black dark. The two points are only about 20 min apart.
• Continuity: When Jerry pulls up to the newspaper stand, he splashes the men sitting drumming on buckets but soon afterwards (too soon), the men are dry.
• Continuity: When Jerry unlocks the refrigerator, the lock is first shown in his right hand and he is turning the dial with his left hand. In the next shot, the lock is in his left hand and he is turning the dial with his right hand.
• Continuity: The lock on the coffee canister in the fridge has three dials on it but When Jerry offers Alice a coffee, he “recalls” that the combination is “4-23-12″ which would be used on a combination lock like the one on the fridge.
• Miscellaneous: When Jerry is taped to the wheelchair and Jonas first confronts him, we see Jonas blocking the light, yet there is no shadow on Jerry. Even when we can see the back of the wheelchair, we should be able to see some part of Jonas’ shadow over Jerry and/or the wheelchair.
• Continuity: When Jerry pauses before getting into the car on the bridge, you can see that the steering wheel has a leather-wrap cover. When they drive away, the wheel is bare.
• Revealing mistakes: When Jerry falls down the stairwell while strapped into the wheel chair, the stuntman’s hands are not tied down and can be seen freely grabbing for the handrail.
• Continuity: On the bus with Alice, Jerry says that the official story on Ernest Herriman is that he drowned in a swimming pool. But back earlier, when Jerry’s clipping newspaper articles, if we freeze the frame and read the article about Harriman, the official story is that he was drowned in the ocean off Maryland. The dialog in the script didn’t match the text on the prop.
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Alice is in Dr Jonas’ office and the camera is on her (and from behind Jonas), after he says “then you can judge who and what I am” you can clearly see that Jonas is still talking after the end of the sentence.
• Continuity: When Jerry stops the car in the middle of the bridge, the view from the front angle camera shows the last car in front of them to get through was a blue Honda Civic. When the scene switches to a rear camera, it’s now a red mid-size car.
• Revealing mistakes: When Jerry is driving up to his apartment in the beginning of the movie and pushes the car backwards to park on the corner, the car moves back way too easily. If the car being pushed back has an automatic transmission, the rear wheels (or the front in a front wheel drive car) would be locked, hence causing the car to skid. If the car had a manual transmission, the last driver of the car should have placed the transmission in first gear or applied the parking brake. Either way, the car would have skidded backwards. The chances of the car being left in neutral in either situation is unlikely at best, and if so, the odds of that particular car being in neutral are very high, considering the amount of cars in Manhattan.
• Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Jerry is leaving the hospital the first time he goes in the back of a panel truck and pulls the roll-up door closed, something the driver should have done prior to getting in the driver’s seat and pulling away from the loading dock.
• Factual errors: When Jerry leaves Alice on the train and Alice gets a phone call on her mobile phone, she is still in the subway. Mobile phone technology of the day dictates that calls can not be completed when underground in the subway. She would not have a signal to receive or make a call.
• Continuity: When Alice is in Dr Jonas’ office, there is a point where the bite mark on Dr. Jonas’ nose switches from the right side to the left.
• Errors in geography: Jerry and Alice get off the 72nd St. bus and enter what Jerry calls the 7th St. subway station, where Harriman drowned. However, he boards an N train in the Times Square station, with an exit to 41st St. sign visible in the background.
• Continuity: The piece of pizza that Jerry picks out of the box is much smaller than the piece he then eats.
• Crew or equipment visible: When Jerry escapes from the hospital, he waits inside Alice’s car. He tells her to leave right away and when she does there is a reflection of a few crew members, especially the boom operator.
