“Australia” Goofs List

Continuity: At the end, when King George is waiting for Nullah to come on walkabout, the position of the spear he is holding changes angles several times – from straight up to 45 degrees from his body to straight up again.
Continuity: When The Drover (Hugh Jackman) rescues the children, he is holding the youngest one as they enter the water. When the camera cuts back, he’s holding a rifle. Then he is holding onto the raft with the others without a gun, and the action continues to switch between him holding and not holding the gun.
Continuity: When it starts to rain and you see Hugh Jackman with his coat off and over his shoulder, there are brown mud spots all over his shirt sleeve and jacket. In the very next shot the spots are gone and he appears to be wearing a clean shirt.
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: During the screening of _Wizard of Oz, The (1939)_, the first time it is seen in sepia. The two additional times they show the movie, it is in color. Famously however, the first 18 minutes of the film were shot in sepia (while Dorothy is in Kansas), with a transition to color once Dorothy arrives in Munchkinland.
Crew or equipment visible: When Nullah “pulls up” at Faraway Downs and prepares to dismount from his horse, someone is holding the horse by a visible lead line (third rein).
Crew or equipment visible: As Nullah gallops back to Faraway Downs after mounting the horse in the waterhole, there is a dust trail visible in front of his horse. Evidently someone is galloping ahead of him to ensure that his mount will follow, since Nullah is obviously too small to control an animal safely at speed.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Right at the end of the movie, when Nullah is about to go walkabout, in one scene he commits the cardinal sin of looking directly into the camera. Although it could be argued he’s looking at Drover, but Drover’s too far away beside a tree, and the angle of view is wrong.
Factual errors: Earlier reported that Drover sees the burnt shoes of the children on mission island and that all boys were accounted for. In fact, it is never mentioned that all the boys survived the initial attack and the burnt shoes may have been those of children killed in the attack.
Continuity: Nullah’s pinto pony, which has distinctive markings, changes to another pinto (possibly several) throughout scenes and from scene to scene, probably to accommodate a stunt rider.
Plot holes: When the Japanese patrol arrives at the beach, they cannot see the 30 foot sailboat close enough to shore that little children could walk or easily swim out to it.
Plot holes: The policeman, Callahan, and his men arrive at Faraway Downs looking to take Nullah and don’t find him. However, while they are driving up to the ranch, Nullah and his mother can be clearly seen climbing the water tower ladder as the truck is facing in that direction. As they are leaving, two of the policemen are seen sitting in the bed of the truck as it pulls away. People on the station are running toward the water tower in obvious distress, Jackman climbing the ladder to retrieve Nullah and his mother, in full view of the policemen in the truck bed as it is no further than 50 yards away, yet, the truck makes no response to the obvious activity in full view of them.
Continuity: Drover begins lassoing a horse in a circular corral holding the lasso in the rope with his right hand. In obvious continuous motion, we see it in his left hand after a cut, then back to his right hand after the next cut.
Continuity: In the scene in which Sarah first meets Nullah, she is speaking to him with her left hand near her chest. In obvious consecutive action, it suddenly appears at her side after a cut, then, after the next cut, suddenly back near her chest.
Anachronisms: Lady Sarah Ashley’s mount – the last before she leaves England – has what appears to be a freeze brand on his shoulder. Freeze branding was invented in the 1960s and used as ID for valuable horses in the 1980s.
Continuity: During their trip to Darwin the group is resting at night, when suddenly Fletcher’s guys pour out the gasoline and light it up. When the fire is lit it is pitch black and the stars can be seen. Then the stampede starts and suddenly it is in the middle of the day.
Anachronisms: During the film Lady Ashley and Nullah view a newspaper in Australia advertising the “The Wizard of Oz”. Later in the film a sign in Darwin indicates that the year is 1939. It is highly unlikely that the newspaper or the showing of the “The Wizard of Oz” occurred in 1939 because the it was actually released in Australia during April 1940.
Factual errors: When the Drover gets into the pickup truck to leave Faraway Downs, he gets into the left-hand seat and drives away with the steering wheel on the left-hand side. Australian vehicles are typically equipped with steering wheel and driving controls on the right-hand side because Australian traffic drives on the left-hand side of the road.
Factual errors: Japanese bombing of Darwin includes a shot of a naval warship exploding. The ship exploding is an older US battleship with the distinctive tripod masts. The USS Peary which was destroyed during the first raid of the bombing of Darwin was a Clemson-class destroyer.
Continuity: When Lady Ashley, Drover, and the children are reunited on the wharf, a military ambulance seen behind them is also shown in other battle scenes at different locations in the same time setting. The hood ID numbers are the same.
Continuity: When Lady Ashley tells Drover to either stay at Faraway Downs or never return, Drover slams the white gate shut behind him as he storms out. In the next scene the gate is wide open again.
Factual errors: Maitland is shown being murdered in the Faraway Downs “billabong”. A billabong is a small lake of stagnant water when cutoff from the river. The scene and subsequent map show it just to be a pool attached to the river.
Anachronisms: Late in the movie the barman can be seen with crates of Victoria Bitter. This beer or “VB” as it is known is the local beer in the southern state of Victoria was not available in other areas of Australia until the 1970s.
Revealing mistakes: In an early scene, the Drover’s truck is running beside some bounding kangaroos. The leg action of the kangaroos does not match the speed they are moving at – the swing backwards is stopping too soon.
Factual errors: The Japanese planes are shown dropping torpedoes on land based targets. While maybe appropriate for the ships in the harbor, no pilot would use a torpedo for a land-based target.
Anachronisms: In the first “tent” scene between Grover, Sarah and the Aboriginal stockmen, Grover speaks to Sarah whilst cleaning his teeth. A close inspection of his toothbrush reveals that it is not 1939-vintage. It has dark bristles in the centre and white bristles around the outside. Also the toothbrush has an oral-dynamic shape, with a pointed end. In 1939 toothbrushes were not this sophisticated. They were rectangle-shaped with white bristles.
Continuity: In the ball scene, Sarah suddenly appears in a close-up with her make-up redone. Her lipstick was the most obvious change.
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Sometimes during the attack scenes, the aircraft wheels are retracted; other times the wheels are extended while dropping bombs or firing at ground targets. This is not a goof, since the planes with extended landing gears are expected to be Aichi D3A “Val” bombers. This kind of plane had fixed landing gears. Other Japanese planes were Mitsubishi “Zeke” (or “Zero”) fighters. The “Zekes” were embarked aircraft with retractable landing gears.
Anachronisms: At the charity ball the song ‘Aquarela do Brasil’, composed by Ary Barroso in 1939, is heard. The song was first recorded later that year in Brasil by Aracy Cortes. It became an international hit after it was sung by Carmen Miranda in the movie “The Gang’s all here” in 1943. It’s most improbable the song could have been orchestrated, arranged and performed by a band the same year it was composed in a far away spot such as Australia.
Continuity: In the scene where Sarah and Nullah first meet in the house, Nullah’s shell necklace disappears and reappears from shot to shot.
Continuity: In the scene when Sarah asks Flynn to tell her all about Faraway Downs and Fletcher, Flynn pulls out of his stock a full bottle of rum. In the close-up shot when he is opening it, it’s another kind of bottle, not entirely filled with rum. In the next scene, he is again holding the (opened) former bottle.
Crew or equipment visible: In the scene when Drover storms away from Faraway Downs after his argument with Sarah, the traces of the came

Continuity: During the Wild Rumpus before all the Wild things jump into a pile on top of Max, K.W. says “Look out Max!” but at this point he hasn’t told anyone his name.
Errors in geography: Scenes supposedly set in United States suburbia often show Eucalyptus trees and other Australian vegetation, revealing the scenes were actually filmed in Australia.
Continuity: When Max is falling head over heels down the sand dune, his crown comes flying off twice.
Continuity: During the “Rumpus”, When Carol jumps straight up into a tree trunk, he falls back on his front. When the camera cuts to Max then back to Carol, He is now on his back.
Revealing mistakes: In the early scenes in which Max is outside playing in the snow there are leaves on the trees and roses in bloom. You can’t see his breath in the air and it doesn’t fog the window. If you look closely in some shots you can see a light fog in the air created by the cold manufactured snow on a warm day.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Picard sings “heart” instead of “foot” in the second chorus of “A British Tar”, despite having the lyrics displayed in front of him on his computer. Considering the stress he’s under, he does an excellent job.
Continuity: When Anij slows down time (the water falls very slowly, the bird’s wings flap slowly) she picks a flower and then blows the spores off of it. She’s slowed down time, but when she picks the flower the other flowers next to the one she picks move back and forth at full speed.
Revealing mistakes: In the beginning, when Data is being chased into the village, the stone bridge shakes and flexes like a wooden prop as the children run across it.
Crew or equipment visible: Shadow of equipment visible on the cave wall, just before Picard goes through the hole he has blasted in the wall.
Continuity: When he discovers the holoship hidden in the lake, Data opens a dam and lowers the water level. But when he boards the raft with Picard and Anij, the pier is still at the correct height for the normal water level.
Continuity: When blasting through the cave wall, a tree falls over at the side and Picard and Data both look at it. It is standing up again in the next scene.
Revealing mistakes: Early in the film a woman is knocked backwards, the man standing behind her goes to catch her well before she starts falling.
Revealing mistakes: When Picard shoots the Son’a guard on the holoship, a crash mat can be seen when he falls off the roof.
Continuity: During the phaser fight in the holoship, A Son’a soldier is shot and rolls off the roof of the hut, and when Picard ends the simulation, the soldier is not lying on the floor stunned when we see the full holodeck revealed, unless he was a hologram too.
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: During Data and Picard’s phaser fight inside the holoship, the disruptor shots from the Son’a weapon do not disrupt the holograms as we see the Son’a Commander do later in the movie to reveal that was fooled. In fact, they chip walls and splash water. However, the holoship was designed to be a ‘floating holodeck’ to transport unwilling colonists, so the simulation would likely be programmed to react in a realistic manner to weapons fire so that the deception isn’t accidentally discovered; likewise, the crew of the Enterprise may not have had time to reactivate the ‘reality mode’ when they changed the simulation.
Continuity: When Picard, Data, and Anij are paddling out to the holoship, Data and Picard switch sides on the raft between shots.
Continuity: When Data and Picard beam back up to the Enterprise after jumping into the Ba’ku lake, Data’s uniform is dry while Picard’s is still soaked.
Revealing mistakes: When Picard is first meeting with the Baku, there are children playing a hacky-sack type game in the background. During two short shots, the children can be seen making kicking motions but there are no hacky-sacks to be seen.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Picard meets the Ba’Ku for the first time, he introduces Counselor Troi as Dr. Crusher and Dr. Crusher as Counselor Troi. Both actresses nod to the wrong names as well.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Ru’afo socks Dougherty in the face, he obviously misses, yet we hear a punch effect.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): While singing “A British Tar”, Data, who supposedly has perfect recall, sings the wrong notes for part of the song.
Continuity: When Picard is beamed on to the collector ship before facing Ru’afo, he is beamed from another Son’a ship, but he materializes with a Federation transporter effect, not a Son’a one.
Crew or equipment visible: After Picard rescues Anij from the water, Data says, “In the event of an emergency, my body can be used as a flotation device.” Data then “rises” above the water as if he is inflating. The platform that raises Brent Spiner higher in the water is visible through the water underneath him.
Crew or equipment visible: In the beginning of the movie, after Picard, Riker, Troi, and Crusher enter the turbolift, the turbolift doors close and the reflection of the camera can be seen in the shiny turbolift door label.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Troi comments that she had never kissed Riker with a beard before. In actuality, Troi kissed bearded Riker in the episode “Star Trek: The Next Generation: Menage a Troi (#3.24)” (1990), as well as in several other episodes.
Miscellaneous: In the scene where the crew meets Picard in the Captain’s Yacht, the captain tells Geordi and Riker to take the ship and transmit a message to the Federation. If you look at Geordi’s collar you see a gold and two black pips (rank insignia). He should have two gold and one black pip for his rank of Lt. Commander (one gold and two black pips does not belong to any rank in Star Trek).
Continuity: After Picard and Data dive off the Holoship to rescue a drowning Anij, Data informs them that “in the event of a water landing, I have been designed to serve as a flotation device”. Although this is obviously a joke comparing Data to an airline seat, it is inconsistent with information originally provided in “Star Trek: The Next Generation: Descent: Part 2 (#7.1)” (1993). In that episode, Geordi tells Data about a time where they went sailing, and Data decided to go for a swim and ended up sinking to the ocean floor due to lack of buoyancy, and having to walk over a kilometer back to the shore.
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Data used a contraction in the scene where the cave collapses, saying “it’s safer over there.” Although the series established that Data can not use contractions, he had the emotion chip installed into his positronic net in Star Trek: Generations (1994) which would likely allow him to not only experience emotions, but to use contractions as well. Also worth mentioning that although Geordi tells Capt. Picard that he didn’t take his emotion chip with him, it is possible he reinstalled it during the course of the movie.

Crew or equipment visible: In some scenes involving horses, modern orange cones can be seen on the ground directing the riders on the path past the camera to follow. This has been corrected for the Director’s Cut DVD.
Factual errors: When the Muslims are praying near Jerusalem they are praying towards the setting sun, west, not towards Mecca which is to the south south east.
Continuity: During the battle for Jerusalem, the crescent moon and the star nearby, change positions during a short period of time. First, the crescent is horizontal, with the star a short distance above it. In the next scene, the crescent is on an angle, and the star is where the unlit part of the moon would obscure it.
Factual errors: A few times during the movie, the Muslims are shown praying while the prayer call is being delivered. The prayer call precedes the prayer.
Anachronisms: During the movie, flags from Castilla y Leon kingdom are shown several times. At that time Castilla and Leon were separate kingdoms. They became one in 1230.
Continuity: The size of the hole made by the sword in the sand when Imad falls after the fight for the horse changes; from large and uneven to even
Revealing mistakes: When the messenger of Saladin is stabbed in throat by Guy de Lusignan. The blood that is squirted outward sprays from the left side of the neck where he was not stabbed.
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Guy stabs Saladin’s messenger in the throat with a small dagger. When the messenger falls, Guy is holding a bloody sword, rather than his dagger. This is corrected in the Director’s cut, where Guy proceeds to behead the messenger with his sword.
Continuity: At 2:08:09 surrender of Jerusalem, the scar to left and below Bloom’s eye disappears.
Anachronisms: In the Director’s Cut, Sibylla tells her son, soon to be Baldwin V, in his geography lesson, that the King of England is Richard, the son of King Henry. Richard I did not succeed his father until 1189, three years after the death of Baldwin V.
Factual errors: Sibylla claims that she was married to Guy de Lusignan when she was 15 years old. In fact, she was 20 or 21 when she married him in 1180. She had been about 17 when she married her first husband, William of Montferrat, in 1176.
Anachronisms: The so-called ‘Templar’ who attacks Balian before the battle of Hattin (in 1187) wears a white surcoat bearing a black cross: the arms of the Order of St Mary of the Germans (aka the Teutonic Knights). This order was not founded until 1190 at the very earliest.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Balian is building the timber water channel he places the lower level duct on top of the higher one. This should be the opposite way round as in its current state any water running down would run under the lower duct and consequently be lost.
Continuity: During the second day of the siege, Balian watches several Saracen soldiers put their flag upon one of the towers; Balian is seen taking a weapon from a nearby archer, if you look closely that weapon is a war hammer. In the next shot, Balian is seen slashing a Saracen with an arrow.
Continuity: At the beginning of the film, when the party is ambushed, a rider charges towards Godfrey. He is wearing a conical helmet, but in the next shot, after Godfrey has dispatched him, his helmet is flat.
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: In the directors cut version, Balian is in Jerusalem, praying where Christ was crucified – you see him burying his dead wife’s gold necklace (cross). Later in the movie, you see him pulling out the ring that Sibylla gave him and kissing it – not the cross of his late wife.
Factual errors: Throughout the battle scenes, the crescent moon and star are used as symbols of Islam. However, these were not adopted until the mid 15th century and the conquest of Constantinople by the Ottoman Turks. Most of the Arab armies would have carried black, green or white flags.
Anachronisms: During the sea voyage and at other times, Balian is costumed in a top cinched with a row of buttons, almost a century before functional buttons appeared in his part of the world. Nonfunctional decorative buttons go back far in history, but functional buttons first appeared in the 1200’s in Germany, spreading to other parts of Europe in the later 1200’s through mid-1300’s. Using tie strings or some manner cinching laces (or better, just a loose pullover top) would have been more period-appropriate.
Errors in geography: In the movie Jerusalem is shown to be in a flat, sandy desert. Jerusalem is actually set on top of a mountain (Mount Zion) with massive valleys filled with trees, and other greenery surrounding the city walls.
Crew or equipment visible: In front of Reynald’s castle, when Saladin’s army comes, a yellow plastic pole that marks a stopping point for the foot soldiers is clearly visible. (This has been corrected for the Director’s Cut DVD.)
Factual errors: The effects of trebuchets have been extremely overdone. They neither reach as far as the film implies (certainly not with that kind of angle) nor does the impact of the ammunition cause the ground to tremble as if it were modern artillery. A hurled stone on a massive city wall may cause a dent and merely a thump upon impact.
Factual errors: During the 12th century the Knights Templar used the Maltese cross on their habit. It wasn’t until a century or so later they were forced to change to the Roman cross. Unfortunately, this is a mistake that Hollywood has always made.
Anachronisms: Two times, at the beginning and at the end of the movie, there is mention of Italian language spoken in Italy. There was no Italy nor standard Italian language at that time.
Factual errors: During the siege of Jerusalem, the Muslims fire flaming arrows at the city. No siege force would have used flaming arrows against a solid non-wood structure as they would have been completely useless.
Continuity: In the beginning of the movie when Balian is pounding on his piece he is shown clearly quenching the end of the piece after pounding on it, clearly showing only the middle of the piece is still hot enough to work, however the next shot shows him once again working on the end which is hot once more while the middle is not.
Continuity: When Balien catches up with his father on their way to Jerulsalem and they are attacked by Godfrey’s brothers forces. Odo, one of Godfrey’s men is struck by an arrow through the neck, but still keeps fighting. Soon after he is struck by a second arrow in the chest and falls to his knees. As the camera angle reverses, he suddenly has two arrows in the chest instead of one.
Continuity: In the Kerak battle sequence, the lighting changes back and forth drastically between cuts, from harsh midday light, to soft morning or sunset lighting.
Continuity: Balian’s arm was slashed by a sword perpendicular to his arm, however, the injury shown later has the gash going length-wise down his wrist.
Continuity: Balian’s hair keeps changing between shots when he and Tiberias talk on the battlefield.

Continuity: Ron receives the “Howler” from his mother. After his owl, Errol, crashes into the table, you can see that the red envelope is open. As Ron removes it from Errol’s mouth. We then see Ron breaking the seal on this envelope so he can read it.
Continuity: When Harry and Ron’s car is caught by the tree, a limb smashes a hole in the rear window but the hole is missing in one shot when the car tips forward while falling out of the tree.
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: At the beginning of the transfiguration lesson, the writing on the blackboard behind Professor McGonagall is reversed, and this has been reported as a flipped shot. However, further observation reveals that the right-hand board is, for undisclosed wizardy reasons, a mirror image of the left-hand board and so this is not an error.
Continuity: When Harry and Ron are in the Dark Forest and the spiders begin to attack, Hagrid’s dog gets in the car twice.
Revealing mistakes: When Ron is on all fours beginning to cough up slugs, Harry says, “Let’s take him to Hagrid’s.” Hermione mouths the lines with him.
Continuity: At all times the Locomotive ‘Hogwarts Castle’ is played by a Great Western Railway Hall Class Locomotive. However, when Harry and Ron are in the car and look behind them to see the train bearing down on them the front of the engine is quite different, although the numberplate and nameboard are the same.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Harry is reading off the paper that explains the Basilisk, he says “Spiders flee before it”, but his mouth is saying something else. What Harry is actually saying is “and the crowing of a rooster can kill it.” A scene was filmed, but cut in the theatrical version that shows Harry running into Hagrid, who is carrying a dead rooster and explaining that it’s the second one he’s found dead. The scene was later added on the second disc of the DVD as part of the deleted scenes section. The full text of what Harry is saying is “Spiders flee before it, and the crowing of a rooster can kill it.”
Continuity: When Harry is chasing after Dobby in his house and they get to the downstairs hallway they both stop running. Harry stops and he has one leg in front of him. In the next shot, the other leg is in front of him instead.
Revealing mistakes: When the Weasleys’ enchanted car has ejected them and Ron and Harry are chasing the car, you can see the hand and silhouette of the driver.
Revealing mistakes: Near the end of the film, when Harry and Ron find out that Lockhart’s a fake, they push him towards the stone washstand in the girls’ bathroom. When Lockhart touches the stand, it shakes considerably, proving that it isn’t stone.
Continuity: When Professor Lockhart is knocked backwards by Professor Snape’s charm during their duel, his wand can be seen flying through the air. When he lands, however, the wand is back in his hand.
Crew or equipment visible: Just after Harry and Ron realize the basilisk is getting around by using the pipes, they walk fast down a corridor to warn people. Wires from a camera or a boom mic are visible on the left-hand side of the screen.
Revealing mistakes: When Crabbe and Goyle pluck the chocolate cupcakes out of mid-air, you can see the shadow of the string on Goyle’s face.
Continuity: When Ron and Harry run into Professor Lockhart’s office, after they’ve just found out that Ginny has been taken into the Chamber of Secrets, Lockhart can be seen briefly in a mirror beside the door, waiting for his cue.
Continuity: When Harry and Ron are in the Whomping Willow tree, one of the branches punches a dent in the roof of the car, but when the car drives away the dent is gone.
Continuity: When Harry goes through the large round door and enters the Chamber of Secrets, he is carrying his wand in his left hand. When he sees Ginny on the ground and runs to her side, he clearly drops his wand from his right hand.
Crew or equipment visible: The green puppet used to represent Dobby during the shoot is reflected in Harry’s glasses.
Continuity: When Harry and Ron are in the car trying to get away from the spiders, Fang (in the back seat) is alternately sitting down, standing up, leaning forward, and looking out the back window between shots.
Continuity: When Harry’s cart hits the barrier between platforms 9 and 10, Hedwig’s cage door very clearly pops open. In the next shot she is shown ruffling her feathers with a very closed cage door.
Crew or equipment visible: When Snape leans over to pick Draco up after he has been thrown through the air by Harry’s spell in the dueling scene, a crew member in blue jeans can be seen on the far left.
Revealing mistakes: When the pixies drop Neville on the chandelier, the pointy plastic ears used when the pixies pull him up are still on him after they let go.
Continuity: Lockhart’s cloak goes from flayed out to straight down between shots when he is sprawled between two stone basins at the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets.
Crew or equipment visible: When the spiders are coming out in great numbers, stage lights are visible.
Continuity: When Harry and Ron go in to Lockhart’s office, Lockhart is not wearing a cloak. But when they arrive in Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom Lockhart has a cloak on.
Revealing mistakes: When Hedwig puts her beak on the lock at the beginning of the movie, a key is visible in the lock.
Revealing mistakes: When Ron, the twins, and Harry enter the Weasley home toward the beginning of the movie, there is a pan washing itself in the sink. You can see the edge of the circular cut-out in the pan used to make the brush spin in a circle.
Revealing mistakes: At several points while Harry is in the Chamber of Secrets, the ceiling of the sound stage can be seen reflected in the great pool of water.
Continuity: When Harry and Ron are in the car being chased by the spiders, Ron switches gears with Harry’s hand over his. The clothing sleeves shown on them in that brief shot are not the clothes they’re wearing in that scene, but what they’d worn in the earlier flying car scene at the beginning of the movie.
Continuity: It takes Gilderoy Lockhart 6 seconds to fall down the entry to the Chamber of Secrets, but it takes Harry and Ron three times as long. In addition, when Harry and Ron land in the bone-covered room, crunching noises are heard from their landing on the bones. When Gilderoy landed in the room ahead of them, the crunching noises are missing (though they may have been too faint to hear over a distance in the tunnel).
Continuity: When Harry is flipping through his photo album at the very beginning of the movie, he views a picture of himself, Ron, and Hermione that should’ve been taken during the last school year, however, it’s clearly a recent photograph as Ron and Harry both sport longer hair, and Hermione’s hair is curlier.
Miscellaneous: When Harry is entering the Weasley’s house, he sees a pair of bewitched knitting needles. The needles are clacking together, but not actually knitting any stitches.
Continuity: Harry is in Borgin and Burkes in Knockturn Alley and hides in the sarcophagus when the Malfoys enter. His glasses were broken when he enters the sarcophagus, but are intact when he first leaves the sarcophagus. A few seconds later, however, they’re broken again.
Revealing mistakes: When Harry tries to run through the wall to Platform 9 3/4 but bumps into the wall instead, you can see an obvious dummy of the owl inside the cage when it falls over.
Continuity: For most of the movie, it is shown that Moaning Myrtle is not solid, and that solid objects pass through her. However, when she jumps into the toilet, the water splashes. A splash can only be made by a solid object having sudden impact with water (this was also an error in the book). In the fourth film, Myrtle is shown diving into a full bathtub and not making any splash at all.
Crew or equipment visible: In the scene where Ron and Harry turn into Crabbe and Goyle, as they leave a crew member can be seen crouching in the background behind Malfoy.
Continuity: When Harry, Ron and Fang are fleeing the forest, Fang can be seen entering the car twice.

Continuity: The ferry’s position in relation to the overhead bridges changes when Terry is traveling on the river Thames, talking to his superior.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: The marching band drummer, while standing in front of the grandstand.
Continuity: There’s a red bucket visible when Peter and Kessler work in the camp, just before Peter grabs the map. It changes position and even vanishes briefly.
Continuity: Peter and Alice, invited to attend the charity event, can be seen sitting at their table at the party before they even entered the room.
Continuity: When Terry, Dino and the others approach the guerilla camp, takes with rain and without rain are mixed up.
Continuity: When the rebels arrive at the camp with Peter in their midst, you see the guy with the yellow shirt, Alex, as his fellows help him to lie down on a table. A short while later Alex arrives at the table, helped by his mates. And later still we see him dismount the mule.
Continuity: The Polaroid which terry examines with a magnifying glass shows Peter smiling slightly. The picture Alice & Janice look at has his mouth closed in a grimace (the plot makes an issue of why he isn’t smiling in the photo).
Revealing mistakes: When two ELT soldiers fly into the air after Thorne detonates a claymore mine, wires are visible aiding the stuntmen.
Continuity: Right before the shot of Peter Bowmen stopping his car at the roadblock he is wearing sunglasses. In the very next shot, you can see in the rearview mirror that he is not.
Continuity: Towards the end when Terry and Alice are kissing, Terry is holding Alice’s head. When the camera swings to the other side, Alice is holding Terry’s head.
Revealing mistakes: Even though the movie takes place in a fictional South American country, the Ecuadorian flag can be seen flying in many places.
Continuity: When Kessler is standing at the top of the waterfall (shown in a long shot), he clutches at his injured shoulder. However he has not been shot yet. He gets hit in the shoulder during the next (close-up) camera shot.
Continuity: In the final scene, when the helicopter is returning from the retrieval mission, Meg walks up to greet her husband, and she has a huge fever blister on the right side of her upper lip. Later, in that same scene, the fever blister disappears.
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: The grenade Dino throws into the hut is a noise/flash distraction device, commonly called a “flashbang.” Flashbang grenades do not detonate and fragment like antipersonnel grenades, so it would be normal to see the spent grenade body lying on the floor.
Continuity: When Peter is photographed by his captors, his feet are completely red, covered in blood. Then when the instant-photograph is being looked at in the hotel room by Terry, Alice and Janis, there is less blood and injury visible on his feet.
Revealing mistakes: The word ‘escorpion’ is used when explaining why Peter’s house has so many scorpion emblems on door handles and tiled in the swimming pool. The Spanish word used for scorpion is actually ‘alacran’.
Continuity: Bowman empties his gun and the slide stays cocked back because it’s empty. In the next scene the slide is back in position, but Bowman wouldn’t know how to do this to a gun, having not used one before.
Revealing mistakes: Bowman speaks into the wrong side of his Nokia 9110 Communicator.
Continuity: Alice slaps Thorne’s left cheek, but when he walks in to the house, he is massaging his right cheek.

Crew or equipment visible: When Kevin lights the rope on fire, he turns to run away and a crewmember is visible through the window.
Continuity: The recording of Uncle Frank in the shower is much longer when Kevin plays it back in the Plaza Hotel. We hear things that were sung before and after Kevin started and stopped the recording.
Continuity: If you turn the closed captions on, they will say “Oh, you’re cooking, Frankie” when Frank sings it and “Oh, you’re cooking with brandy” when Kevin plays it back while in the hotel. This has been corrected in the DVD version.
Crew or equipment visible: When Harry and Marv run out of the toy store’s broken window, near the end of the movie, there are several shots of them where you can see into the store behind them. In one of these shots, you can see a person’s left shoulder move behind a display on the left side of the screen (the person is wearing a heavy green jacket).
Revealing mistakes: A black wire of some sort can be clearly seen connected to the staple that hits Marv’s nose.
Continuity: In the Plaza Hotel, Kevin asks Donald Trump where the lobby is. Trump says down to the left, but Kevin goes down to the right, and arrives in the lobby.
Continuity: The statue gets broken off its base by the airport van, only to be back on and unbroken in later scenes.
Errors in geography: When Kevin is sitting at LaGuardia airport he is looking at the Manhattan skyline. You cannot see that view of the city from that airport.
Continuity: In the long shot of Kevin in the taxi on the bridge he is wearing gloves, but in the close-up he is not.
Continuity: When Uncle Frank was in the shower singing, Kevin didn’t start recording the song until Uncle was halfway through. When Kevin played the song in the hotel bathroom, the whole song right from the beginning was on the cassette.
Continuity: When Kevin is in the bed in the hotel room, you see the butler scooping ice cream into the banana split boat, and then the butler asks Kevin, “How many scoops would you like Sir?” and the banana split boat is empty and the butler starts to fill it up.
Continuity: When Kevin is recording Uncle Frank in the bathroom he runs out before Frank says, “Oh, you’re cooking, Frankie.” Later when Kevin is playing the same recording in the hotel bathroom. We can hear on the recording him saying this.
Continuity: When Harry and Marv are at the skating rink, Marv puts on the earmuffs, and his hair is pulled back under them. In the next shot, his hair is all muffled up again.
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Kevin is seen buying fireworks in Chinatown when he first arrives in New York City. It is illegal to buy or sell fireworks in the state of New York, but when this movie was made, that law was not enforced in Chinatown and it was easy to find vendors there selling fireworks illegally while the police looked the other way.
Continuity: At the top of the stairs, the tool chest wheels (2 fixed and 2 rotating) are all facing sideways. Before it falls, all the wheels including the fixed wheels are facing forward.
Factual errors: When Kevin goes swimming at the Plaza, it is a different hotel. The Plaza doesn’t have a pool.
Continuity: When Harry crashes down on top of the car, his hands are laid out above his head, but in the next shot of him, they are down at his sides.
Continuity: When Kevin wants to go home he quickly grabs a few cookies from the cabinet to take with him. Then he throws them onto the bed close together, then in the next shot they are spaced out.
Continuity: When Kevin throws four bricks at Marv, they are shown landing on the sidewalk. Later when Marv gets up, three of them are in the street.
Revealing mistakes: When Kevin is sawing a ladder, he is sawing it from front to back. Later when Harry climbs the ladder, the sawed portion (back side of ladder) shows it was cut from side to side.
Continuity: When Kevin hits Buzz in the choir scene, he starts out with a closed fist in the first shot, but then actually makes contact with an open hand in the second.
Errors in geography: When the family is in Miami, it is shown to be raining constantly, when December is actually the dry season in Florida.
Miscellaneous: There actually are Christmas trees in South Florida. The Norfolk Island Pine is a tropical pine that is originally from Norfolk Island, east of Australia. It grows pretty much all over south Florida and has even been seen growing as far north as Tampa and even near Orlando, though it does much better farther south, especially from the latitude of the north shores of Lake Okechobee southward. Fully grown, it has a slightly narrower than normal pyramid shape with nearly fern like branches that grow in an evenly tiered pattern, and will generally make a very nice Christmas tree. Farther north, it is usually grown indoors as a potted plant. Usually, outside of the tropics, you will see this pine grown in most offices, especially next to a south facing window.
Continuity: In the scene where Marv and Harry are hastily climbing down the rope to catch Kevin, and Kevin then sets it on fire to buy him some time, prior to when they let go in the long shot, the rope is clearly not attached to the building.
Continuity: In the toy store when Kevin is talking to Duncan at the cash register, Duncan asks Kevin about all the money in his envelope. As Kevin is taking money out of the envelope to pay for his things, he places the envelope on the counter. When the camera switches back to the counter, the only things there are the map and Swiss army knife. When Kevin wanted to make a donation to the toy chest, the money envelope was back in his hand.
Continuity: At the airport, the exterior shot of the plane flown to New York is shown as a Boeing 767-200, which, unlike the -400 series 767, lacks a middle door. When Kevin enters the plane, it is clearly a Boeing 757, evidenced by its single aisle and the door between first class and coach through which he entered, which even then magically becomes an Airbus A300 Cabin with the different overhead bin designs that did not exist on Boeing Aircraft at the time. American has also never flown 767s or A300s between Chicago and LaGuardia.
Revealing mistakes: When the tool chest pushes the door Marv and Harry have their ears pressed against, the long shot clearly reveals that they are standing on a skateboard as they are pushed backwards.
Crew or equipment visible: Immediately following the scene with the pigeon lady in the concert hall attic, Kevin walks toward the railing, and you can see a person dressed in black moving around in front of the latticework behind him.
Continuity: In the scene where Kevin is watching the movie in the hotel room, there is a man making him an ice cream sundae. We see the sundae first completed with 3 scoops of ice cream and then the scene goes to another angle to Kevin on the bed. The attendant asks him how many scoops, and there is only one in the dish.
Factual errors: When Kevin Arrives at LaGuardia airport he arrives at gate “G6″. There is no “G” wing at LaGuardia airport plus the lettering style is the same as it was at O’Hare, indicating that it was in fact filmed at O’Hare.
Factual errors: In the scene in the airport, there are Navy sailors in dress white uniforms. The proper dress for winter time is Dress blues.
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: In the original “Home Alone”, Kevin’s sister counts heads and there are 15 people between the 2 families. In “Home Alone 2″ there are only 14 boarding passes between the 2 families. However, in the first movie the McCallisters travel to Paris to drop off the oldest daughter, Heather, with her parents. Therefore in the second film it is implied that Heather is in Paris during the events that take place in this film.
Continuity: When Kevin is recording the Plaza Hotel commercial with his TalkBoy and it says the toll free number, Peter walks in and asks about the battery for the camcorder, overlapping it, yet when Kevin plays it back at the hotel, Peter’s voice is not included on it.
Continuity: The bag of stolen money changes moves between shots when Marv is getting hit by the bricks.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Kevin and the bird watcher go to the musical theater in which she lives, a different song was dubbed over the ones the violinists played when the camera shot the orchestra. You can tell by the bow movements and bow direction changes.

Continuity: Towards the end, during the marriage scene, Joaquin’s hair style changes erratically.
Factual errors: In the fight scene on the train near the end of the movie, the engineer is thrown forward, pushing the throttle in the cab of the locomotive forward. This has the effect of making the locomotive go faster, when in fact, the train should have stopped. Pulling the throttle back would have made the train go faster. Also, opening the throttle, as was the intent, will lower steam pressure – not rapidly raise it as shown. The only way to raise steam pressure is to add fuel to the fire. Using steam (as in going faster) lowers steam pressure.
Continuity: Joaquin hides under the horse carriage to follow McGivens to where his men are unloading the explosives. In the next shot, Joaquin is not there, and when the carriage stops, he is there again.
Continuity: In the end of the movie, when Zorro, Elena and Armand are fighting on the front part of the train, they have a structure ahead of them (the one they will grab to get off the train). However, when camera shows us the view straight forward of the train, the structure is not there. In the following angles it appears to be there again.
Anachronisms: Voting was done in the open. Privacy booths in America weren’t developed until the 1900s.
Continuity: Zorro squeezes the priest’s cross with his right hand; when the camera angle changes he holds it with his left hand.
Revealing mistakes: When Joquin is engaging in a fight with the priest in school, the book on the desk disappears even though no movement was made to knock it off the desk.
Factual errors: Telegraph wires connected the east and west coasts in 1861. Even if a telegraph message were relayed to the hidden receiver, it would have only been able to print a coded message, similar to Morse code, onto the ticker tape.
Factual errors: Homing pigeons return to the roost where they were born and raised. The birds Elena was using would have flown to their birth place, not the room in San Mateo.
Anachronisms: When Elena is looking at clothes in the market, they are on wire clothes hangers which weren’t invented until 1903.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Zorro and McGivens are fighting on the bridge, McGivens punches Zorro and he drops the ballot box. It doesn’t make a sound.
Factual errors: On the train engine, as Zorro and Armand are fighting, Elena is holding on to the boiler with her bare hands. Her hands would have been burnt to a crisp!
Factual errors: Lincoln is shown welcoming the California governor to the Union near the end of the movie. But in 1850, Lincoln was really traveling the 8th Judicial Circuit (covering over 400 miles in 14 counties in Illinois). ‘Honest Abe’ gained a reputation as an outstanding lawyer. December 21, his third son, William Wallace Lincoln (Willie) was born. But he certainly wasn’t in California.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): The “R” sound in the word “Zorro” is pronounced as a hard, rolled “R”. When Elena pronounces it, she pronounces it with a soft “R”. A woman raised in Spain, as her character is, would definitely not pronounce it this way.
Anachronisms: Armand challenges Alejandro to play polo “as they do in Slovenia,” which he calls “a country.” There was no Slovenia before 1918. It did not become a country until 1991.
Miscellaneous: The Pinkerton agents claim that since California has not obtained statehood, U.S. authorities don’t have jurisdiction to get a search warrant. But California in early 1850 is a USA territory where federal agents have just as much jurisdiction as in states. Furthermore, “Pinkertons” were not employed by the federal government until 1861.
Anachronisms: California’s first railroad, the Sacramento Valley Railroad, didn’t open until 1856, six years after the movie’s setting.
Anachronisms: In 1850, the desperado rides in shooting at voters with a “Henry” rifle, which hadn’t been invented yet.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Elena reads the ticker-tape telegram, use is made of punctuation as well as the word “STOP”. “STOP” was only used in place of punctuation as four-letter words were free; punctuation cost extra.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): At the end of the movie Frey Felipe performs the wedding in English. He should have said it in Latin.
Anachronisms: The setting no later than the US Civil War but the train use modern couplers which were invented in 1873 and not in widespread use until 1900.
Anachronisms: Armand’s map of the 1850 United States shows all of the continental 48 states.
Factual errors: The film is set in the three months prior to California statehood (September 9,1850); however Armand says the shipment of nitroglycerin is bound for the Confederate States of America which did not exist until February 1861.

Continuity: After Kar’s fight with Mister Funktastic, the dirt patterns on Mister Funktastic’s chest and back change between shots.
Continuity: When we see Jade’s car explode from above there’s no one around it, while in the next shot people are caught by the blast.
Continuity: When the bad guys show up in three cars in the rain to get the actual scroll, one of the cars has it’s low-beams on- in the next shot from above, that car has on its high beams.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Several of the Nazis carry Desert Eagle pistols made by Israeli Military Industries.
Continuity: When Bad Girl and Kar blow up the SUV by remote control, a brief wide shot shows no bad guys anywhere near it, but in the next shot several are tumbling away from the explosion.
Factual errors: When Strucker is reading the recipe for chicken soup, he is holding the scroll upside down.
Errors in geography: The train that passes by in the scene in the in the subway tunnel, clearly says Kipling, which is a station in the Toronto, Canada subway system, and is not the city in which the movie is set.
Errors in geography: While Monk and Kar are on the boat at night you can see Toronto’s CN Tower.
Continuity: When Jade and Nina fight in the tunnel in some shots it is shown that Nina has on high-heeled boots yet in the actual fighting she is obviously wearing flats.
Revealing mistakes: As Jade and Kar chit-chat and drive down the freeway in her SUV to rescue Monk, a quick shot of the window behind Jade shows the vehicle is not moving.
Continuity: When Kar is standing over Kojima’s body, it is daylight outside. Several moments later he is outside in the nighttime.
Revealing mistakes: When Jade and Nina fight in the tunnel, one of the blades is seen wobbling indicating an obvious rubber prop knife.
Continuity: When Karr and Jade are in the car driving to save Monk, Jade grabs Karr’s hand. In the next shot, both of her hands are on the steering wheel before returning to Karr’s hand in the shot after that.
Continuity: During the subway chase, one of the policeman chasing Kar pauses to sit on a bench, next to a woman. In the next shot, the policeman is sitting alone and the women is standing away from the bench.
Continuity: Until Kar grabs the window ledge, the window is only open a little. In the next shot, the window is halfway open before Kar gets a handhold and swings through the window into the room.
Continuity: When Kar climbs through Jade’s window as it changes to the inside shot it looks like a different window to the outside shot, the appearance of the window sill is not the same and Kar is also grabbing the inside ledge not the outside ledge as before.
Revealing mistakes: After the monk has been thrown against a brick wall by Strucker, the bricks crumbling from the impact can be seen to be actually brick tiles.
Continuity: The amount of blood in Jade’s hand after she first opens it to reveal the bullet is different in the next shot.
Revealing mistakes: When Jade opens her hand to reveal the bullet she caught, it is a shell casing, not a bullet
Revealing mistakes: At the inside shot of Kar climbing through Jade’s window when he lets go with his hands he appears to be quite well supported, even though the previous outside shot showed there was nothing for him stand on outside.
Crew or equipment visible: During the fight on the rooftop, when Kar falls over the side of the building, you can see a PA dressed in his traffic gear in the middle of the intersection in the top left corner of the screen.
Continuity: When Jade is talking to the cinema owner her hair is alternately behind her ear/hanging straight between shots.
Continuity: While the Monk and Kar talk as they walk down a crowded street, the same woman in a blue coat with a hood walks past them in the same direction several times.

Continuity: When Hudson Hawk gets out of the crate, the packing peanuts stuck to his face move around and change shape.
Continuity: As Hudson is speaking with Anna on the couch, her dress jumps back onto her shoulder between shots.
Continuity: After injecting Hawk’s leg, the syringe the Almond Joy removes is just as full as when she started.
Revealing mistakes: When Tommy and Eddie jump from the museum/auction house, the cables attached to their stuntmen were visible for a second.
Continuity: When the Mario Brothers are chasing Hudson Hawk in the ambulance on the Brooklyn Bridge, the air fresheners hanging from the rearview mirror and the needles hanging from Antony Mario’s face change.

Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Tommy is quizzing Hudson Hawk on song lengths, he asks “National Anthem, Whitney Houston, Super Bowl 17?” Whitney Houston sang the National Anthem at Super Bowl 25. Leslie Easterbrook, who played Callahan in the “Police Academy” movies, sang the National Anthem at Super Bowl 17.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: As Hawk is riding the gurney behind the ambulance, the plastic IV bag on the gurney gets shot, but you hear glass shattering, as if the bag were an old-fashioned glass bottle. In a subsequent shot, the IV bag is intact again.
Factual errors: Several characters are paralyzed using curare, yet they still breathe, talk, and move their heads. Curare kills by paralyzing the muscles necessary for breathing.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Anna is in the confessional, the priest forgets to give her absolution at the end of her confession, though he gives her penance.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Eddie says the song “Xanadu” is 4 minutes, 19 seconds long. The song’s playtime is 3 minutes, 27 seconds.
Factual errors: When Eddie and Tommy are in the recorder room of the auction house, Tommy tells Eddie that they have about “5 minutes and change.” Eddie says “5:32 – Swinging on a Star.” The version of the song that they sing as they are robbing the auction house is (at best) only 2 minutes 36 seconds (less than half of the time for which they have planned).
Errors in geography: Hudson Hawk is pulled along the Brooklyn Bridge by an ambulance. When he breaks free, he exits the bridge in the left lane. He ends up at the toll plaza for the Brooklyn Battery tunnel, which is about three miles away.
Factual errors: Hudson Hawk is given a brick of gold and a brick of lead while blindfolded, to demonstrate that they are indistinguishable by weight. Gold is 70% denser than lead, and the weight difference would be easily noticed. The gold brick would weigh about 30 pounds, but they handle it as if it weighs a couple of pounds. They also mention that gold and lead differ by one proton on the periodic table of elements. The difference is actually 3 protons and 7 neutrons.
Continuity: In the Five-Tone Bar, soon after the coffee machine breaks down, at least one of the objects on the table disappears.
